Anyone care to experiment with XT2?

On Wed 21 May I shall be out and about on the bike with my XT2.

The XT2 appears to have a group ride facility that doesn't require A group ride radio receiver.

As I understand it (and my understanding may be completely wrong)

One person sets up a group ride account. A private code is created.
The code can then be given to other people so that they can join the group ride.
As I understand it everyone in the group has their position shared with everyone else.
As a result if this, a map can be shown which shows everyone's position.
I believe that this is achieved by sending position to a phone by BT. Phone sending data to a database.

So if anyone else with an XT2 is on their bike at the same time, and would like to try this out, I will be on the road from around 10:00 'til 16:00 Bst British Summer Time (Gmt +1). Note this shows everyone in the group your current position)

You have it mostly correct, I think the part you missed is that everyone (at least as I am aware) needs to have the Tread App running to properly engage the Group Ride feature. You connect to the app, join a group via a code, and then it shares the locations either by cell or Bluetooth (you had that part correct).

Thanks @technoguppy . I have Tread partially installed - ie it is in my phone, but it does not allow synch / storage of data to the Explore site. But providing the Tread app is open in the phone all data - traffic, messages, weather, roadclosures, phone calls etc are all working fine. I assume that it will be able to send and receive this location data too. But that is one of the reasons for the test.
