As referenced in the "Garmin Basecamp for PC" thread, New England Riders have a good tutorial for learning Basecamp. This is the link for the MAC version of the tutorial. It's from 2015, but so far I've found it to be a good starting point.

The New England Riders Tutorials have been updated in early 2019. Also, thanks to Gérard Friedman, the MAC version has been translated to French.
