Hi all. I'm new to a Garmin 595lm, a fine piece of kit, but I must admit I'm not the best with it . My problem at the moment is when riding or driving through towns the screen fills up with café/restaurant signs, a blue square with a knife and fork. Please can someone explain in simple terms how to switch them off. Many thanks.

Yeah, I remember asking this very question. Turn on your 595. Touch Settings. Touch Map & Vehicle. Touch Map Layers. Untick the Up Ahead Places box. Touch Save. Done. To exit all the way back touch and hold the semicircle arrow.

Settings > Map & Vehicle > Map Layers.
Select the layers to include on the map, and select Save
