Testing with "non-alert" crossing points:
1) Test with 66 (1 departure + 064 + 1 arrival) points and no route splitting
2) Test with 107 (1 start + 105 + 1 finish) points and no route split
3) Test with 156 (1 start + 154 + 1 finish) points and no route split
4) Test with 618 (1 start + 616 + 1 finish) points and no route split
5) Test with 991 (1 start + 989 + 1 finish) points and no route splitting

The same route with 991 points in "Alerted" mode, so...CQFD (in French : Ce Qu'il Faut Démontrer...What needs to be demonstrated):

I found that if you save your Basecamp files as a .gdm file instead of a .gpx the file goes over to the XT with loss of alert or non alert status and has to be split up. No such issue with .gpx

"if you save your Basecamp files as a .gdm"
this type of file does not exist when exporting from BaseCamp !
Exist .gpx, .gdb, .csv, .klm, .tcx et .txt
