XT Not Seen By BaseCamp on MacBook Pro

BaseCamp will not recognize my new XT on my 2015 MacBook Pro. The Mac sees the XT; under Apple About >System Report, the USB hardware shows that the Mac is seeing the XT, full details including serial number. But BaseCamp is blind.

I’ve worked at it twelve hours so far and Garmin is pursuing the problem. One rep said the XT was having issues with some Macs running BaseCamp.

Anyone else? Any fixes or successes? Garmin Express seems to be part of the problem.

My MacBook and BaseCamp see my Garmin 276Cx just fine.

You can only have one program running at a time:

Express

Or

Basecamp

Or

Android File Transfer (if you want to see the folders and internal storage on the XT).

You cannot have more than one running at a time, or none of them will see the XT.

Connect the XT and wait for it to go into File Mode and show Garmin Express on the XT’s screen.

Open Garmin Express if it is not set to auto execute. I forget how to turn off auto execute, you might could Google it. Mine is off. Once Express is open, you should see your device with a green dot indicating the device is connected. It must be green.

At the very top center, you should see a black triangle wit rounded ends; RIGHT click on the triangle and select ‘Quit.’ Express must be quit because the system can only handle one input at a time or something. Do NOT use Force Quit.

Open BaseCamp and see if it now connects. It should. You must not have any third party virus or security software. I had Norton 360 and it blocked everything.

Good luck.

I got it o work on my Mac.

Open Activity Monitor
Click on Android File transfer.
Stop the process with the X in a circle on the top

Click on Garmin Express
Stop the process with the X in a circle on the top

Plug in your XT.
Fire up BaseCamp.

It may appear to be hung but it is really syncing

By the way, I used CleanMyMac to disable Express and Android File Transfer from autostarting.
