Xt, sena ark, iPhone bad bt calls

Hi.
As a previous 660 owner I was excited to buy the XT.
Unfortunately the bt calls are almost, well actually not possible due to terrible interface.
If I use my iPhone XR directly with the sena the calls are perfect. However if I use the xt as a hub, as it’s designed, the call quality is so bad it is unusable.
Everything is on the latest firmware and the music streaming is perfect.
Can someone please help as Garmin and sena cannot and I really don’t want to return the item.
