205 Zumo XT - Normal Behaviour - Ignore Via Point - 'Saved' Route - Auto Recalc OFF
The Video
Route is simply a Start, a Via and an End point. I ride along the A65. The Via is placed on the A59 to my right, so we have to turn off to reach it. It is called 20 T2 Vp1.
The video shows me following the route, but then ignoring the demand to turnn right - so I do not visit the Via Point - and demonstrates what we can expect when that happens.
Watch For
The bright magenta line as I pass the start.
No route after passing the right turn.
No navigation instructions ignoring right turn
No announcmeent when I 'rejoin' the route.
Dull colour of magenta line when I 'rejoin' the route.
The mileage to the end after ignoring the turn right to reach the Via Point
The mileage to the end when I reach the end point
The name of the route point that the XT has as the next point to skip.
My Input
Nothing. I started the route and left it running. I didn't miss anything before starting the route, and I didn't skip a route point. This is a 'saved' route that I created on the XT2 screen - which so far have never displayed RUT behaviour.
This is normal behvaviour and is to be expected. Via Points are 'must visit' points.
Conclusion
If you miss out a Via Point under normal circumstances - you can expect the XT to keep demanding to take you to visit it. That is what the stanav is supposed to do.
If you turn off autorecalc and do not rejoin the route - then the navigation goes quiet. You will be on a dull magenta route - not the active part of the route.
The Distnace to end point increasing is a big tell-tale sign that you are not on the route. You might think that you are, but you are not.
The shade of the magenta line is important. The current section of route is a bright magenta. Any other part of the route is dull magenta.
In the video, after rejoining the dull magenta line and heading to the end point - I was still not on the active part of the route. For that, I have to visit the Via Point.
OR Stop the route, restart it and select closest entry point.
ORpress skip to remove the missed route point from the list. (But that may initiate RUT behaviour at the next deviation from the route).
