206 Zumo XT - Saved Route - Normal Behaviour - Ignore 3 x Shaping Points - Auto Recalc is OFF
The Video
This is a similar idea to the last video - missing a route point that has been placed becasue I need the route to go through it. This time, three shaping points have been placed on a side road to my right. I decide that I don't want to go that way, and almost immediately I head for a roundabout a couple of miles ahead - where I rejoing the magenta line which appears from my right at the roundabout.
Watch For
- Turning off the route near the start. Route not recalculating.
- Original route appearing on the map at the right - and the two of the three missed shaping points (blue discs).
- Note the bright magenta line stops at the first shaping point.
- The dull magenta line - with its white arrow indicating that the proper route is going from right to left in front of us as we approach the roundabout.
- The countdown distance to the end point on thr lower right of the screen. Not how it goes up, then as we approach the roundabout it realises it is about to rejoint the route.
- Please drive to highlighted route as we approach it.
- Navigation instructions begin immediatley on rejoing the route. All missed shaping points forgotten about - the dull magenta sections are still plotted behind us.
- In the last part of the video after the roundabout, we are back on a bright megenta route - the part that is active.
My Input
Nothing. No skipping of route points. This is just a Saved route behaving normally. It was created on the XT2 screen - that was easier than planning a route and then applying the 'mImported byte fix'. Conclusion
This behaviour is normal. Providing that you don't miss any Via points in the process, you can by-pass any number of shaping points. But don't be foooled. If you have Automatic Recalculation turned on, then the satnav is quite correct in wanting to take you back to the first shaping point that you have missed. And will continue to do so. Ignore the satnav. As soon as you rejoin the magenta line and head in the right direction it will navigat ahead.
Beward the approach to rejoin the magenta line. In our example, the way ahead was to the left. But if recalc is allowed, the first shaping point that you missed will be to the right. On approach, the XT will be wanting you to turn right in order to get you to that missed shaping point. But turn left and it realises you are on the correct route - and it navigates ahead.
