49 Display a Track on the XT

…with no visual or audible alerts (on road or off road)
This method is as simple as a satnav gets. In effect you are looking at a paper map with a hi-lighter line drawn onto the roads you intend to take.
The satnav marks your position with your chosen vehicle, and scrolls the map to ensure that your vehicle is shown centred if the map is drawn with North at the top, or towards the bottom centre if the map is drawn in 3D or in ‘Track Up’ mode.
The track can be one of a number of colour options, and can be set to one of 3 widths. If the feature is enabled, a blue track is superimposed onto the map showing where you have been.
Following a Track
If the track was copied to Internal Memory:
It doesn’t need to be imported before it can be used. It is available immediately.
Main Screen -> Track -> Track Pin Icon and select the track that you
want to load, then:
Spanner -> Show on Map (also set colour and Track width)
If the track has been copied to the SD card:
You first have to import it: Track -> Track Pin Icon -> Spanner ->
Import
Then as above for Internal Memory
If you have the link to Garmin Explore set up:
Where To ? -> Explore -> Tracks Load the track to view it on the
screen
Then as above for internal memory.
To Transfer a Track to the XT
Use Basecamp
Transfer the tracks from Basecamp using the File->Export facility, or simply drag and drop.
Use a File Explorer on a PC or Mac
This requires a USB connection.
If copying direct to the XT or SD card, place GPX files in either of the following locations:
Internal Storage -> GPX - Tracks appear in the Track menu immediately on transfer
Memory Card -> Garmin / GPX - Tracks need to be imported before they appear in the Track Menu
Sharing Tracks Via BlueTooth
Track -> Pin Icon -> Spanner -> Share -> Bluetooth
Select the tracks to share.
Shared tracks are received and imported automatically, and appear in the
Track App.
They are saved in the Internal Storage / GPX folder, with a name that
starts: bt_shared_tracks_
Sharing Tracks Using the Garmin Drive App
The shared GPX file is sent to the Drive App on your smartphone. This allows you to send it to a friend eg by email or text.
Using Garmin Explore
If the track has been created on Explore, and your link to the Explore Website has been established, it will appear automatically in the XT’s Track menus.
