On The XT:

Import the route if you haven’t already done so. Then load the route

Apps -> Trip Planner -> Saved Trips -> (select) -> Go ! -> (Start point)

A map of the route will be displayed like the one opposite. Zoom in to show the section that contains the little green flags. These are the Waypoints and symbols that have come from your Explore webpage. If they do not appear, then go back to Pic 4 and check that the collection or ‘unorganised’ has been made visible. You will also see the normal orange flags and blue discs for these points.

Leave the XT showing this screen. Plug in the charger if you need to - make sure it doesn’t switch to File Transfer Mode: After you have connected the USB cable, you get the option to cancel.

On the map you can click an icon and then click the pencil to edit it.

In the left hand pane you can click the pencil, or select a group of Waypoint icons by first clicking the name of one and then CTRL click additional Waypoints. Then click the pencil/edit icon to edit all of the selected Waypoints to show the same icon. Don’t forget to click the tick icon after editing if you selected the icon from the map.

As you do this, keep an eye on the Zumo screen. Within a few seconds of making the change, the map on the XT will alter to show the changes. Providing your phone is within BT range and has an internet connection.

The XT Navigation Screen on the Road

The first one (Pic 7) shows the motorcycle heading for a Via Point. The standard Via Point orange flag is shown with Explore's the fuel pump icon over the top of it.

The second one (Pic 8) shows the Waypoint that was set as a Shaping Point - at Glenshiel - shown as Sheil Bridge on the map.

Here the standard icon for a Shaping Point is a blue disc. The pair of binoculars is on top.

Note that the Trip data display on the right on both images shows the distance to the next Via Point. In the case of the top one, it is just 0.1m ahead - the orange flag.

In the bottom screen, the next Via Point is 135 miles away. The pair of binoculars in the road is at a Shaping Point.

When Waypoints are put into a route they default to being Via Points. But I changed three of them to show that Shaping Points can have a custom icon - as long as it was first created as a Waypoint.

It is not possible to remove the standard Orange Flag and blue disc.
