happily report that update to 3.90 seems to have fixed this issue....

same behaviour persisted despite power coming from battery, via relay. XT2 has been returned to retailer for replacement

It might also be worth checking other accesories or accesory plugs as to whether they have power when it does cut out as it maybe the central electronics being overloaded and cutting out message from the XT2 retailer yesterday that Garmin are aware of issues with 'rebooting' and are working to fix ...

although, I will try putting a 'pad' behind the zumo power supply to see if that pushes the pins forward a little further, just in case that's the issue.

there is never a "disconnected from power" message, before count down to shutting off/restart, like I would normally expect if the XT2 loses power.
It just turns off and then back on.
