Re: Zumo XT not recognizing it's on the cradle

Six cradles and two XTs, it’s hard to believe it’s an electrical contact issue but you never know. Do you always install the XT in the cradle then turn the key on? My BMW CANBus can act strange if it doesn’t first sense there’s a GPS connected or disconnected and reconnected. I haven’t found a distin ...

Re: WARNING - Garmin Zumo XT hot-shoe connector weakness

The one i used on my present GS and previous K1200S is called a BMW Repair Plug Harness. 3 wires, one is for a speed sensor or something and not used. The other end is on a harness under the headlight area somewhere and has a weather cap on the end so it’s not always easy to find. I believe it is “ ...

Re: WARNING - Garmin Zumo XT hot-shoe connector weakness

That’s why I mentioned CANBus voodoo. On my BMW, in lieu of old timey fuses, the computer sets the allowable current for each circuit and shuts off the circuit if the current draw exceeds it. So, say I tapped into a light circuit that draws a half amp and I add my GPS that draws another amp. Turn t ...

Re: WARNING - Garmin Zumo XT hot-shoe connector weakness

Probably not anything related but, Is it in motorcycle mode when it comes on? With the key on, the mount pins get 5+ volts? But mounting the XT it turns on because it sees voltage, then goes to battery? Is there some kind of CANBus voodoo going on where that circuit has voltage but shuts off if it ...

Re: Bike vs car mode difference?

The manual says “routing and navigation are calculated differently based on your transportation mode.” I’d look at things like faster or shorter route and avoidances like dirt roads, highways or tolls.

Re: XT Wishlist

Those are my small issues too. I did open a ticket with Garmin about the missing compass needle and map scale (zoom level) that disappeared from the latest firmware update. They requested screen shots which I sent.

Re: Reversed polarity problem

As mentioned, plug into USB? Did you try a reset, hold the power button for at least 20 seconds?

Re: ...an Error has occured

Last time I tried to update the maps it said my PC didn’t have enough hard drive space. Stupid me, I thought 64 GB would be sufficient not knowing Windows 10 used most of it? So I connected the XT directly to WiFi and like the firmware update, worked fast and fine. My 700i has to use Express to u ...

Re: ...an Error has occured

I turned mine on, connected to WiFi, checked for update. It found it in seconds and took a few minutes to download and update. Says 5.9. Is there a reason to have used Express on a PC? Did I not do it correctly?
