For my driving check of the route is my conclusion to the initial question "will the Zumo XT use the Adventurous for re-calculation", seems like it will, but I am not absolutely sure

The route from QMapShack transferred to the SD card, and then imported Test_rte_240703M1 to Trip Planner. In Trip Planner: All "via point" changed to "shaping points", except wp4_12km. Route Preference changed Adventurous Routing, level 1. Selected go and start. Back to home screen, then into Trip ...

Welcome Harry. You don't have to use Basecamp - but it is the best tool for the job in my opinion. Install Basecamp Install Garmin Express Use express to install the same maps on the computer as the ones on your XT Dont have Express running at the same time as Basecamp. Ask if you need help. I am a new Zumo XT user, and just has to learn using this device with Basecamp, which also is new to me.
Normally using FreeBSD and QMapShack with bicycle GPS, but with Garmin Zumo XT will I need Windows and Basecamp... new learning phase
