Re: Zumo 396 - What am I doing wrong?
Yes, this is a problem with this GPS and all others. The best solution that I have been able to come up with is the following: 1. Plan the route in BaseCamp just as you have done 2. Once you have exactly what you want save it to the GPS as a route and a track. 3. On the GPS, display the track in a ...

Re: Zumo 396 Impressions
I gotta see if there's a way to turn off email notifications. Text is fine, but I get tooany emails. I do like how easy it is to clear the notification off the screen with gloves while riding! https://i.postimg.cc/DyLFVTxB/IMG-20200501-111740941.jpg Never had a visibility issue out riding on this ...

Re: 396 goes to “standby” instead of “off” when bike turned off
Thanks - that confirms the behavior. A very odd design feature in my opinion. Stuff like that always makes me want to find the coder and ask them what they were thinking.[emoji849] LOL. It's exactly the way I want it to behave as I record every MC trip as daily tracks. If the unit turned off at ...

Re: 396 goes to “standby” instead of “off” when bike turned off
I think the reason for this is when your out on a run and stop for a break the unit goes into standby on the bike when the ignition is switched off so that when you return your route is still there to continue on your journey when the ignition is switched back on. Instead of having to power up the ...

Re: Ignoring Way Points
This is very convenient on the 396. There is a button that looks like a curve with a x next to it on the main navigation screen. Press it and the next waypoint will be deleted.
Depending on your settings it may or may not ask you to confirm.

Re: Mapsource and 396
Yes, you can make the 396 work with Mapsource. You need to change it from MTP mode to Mass Storage mode. Just do an internet search for Garmin MTP mode and you will find plenty of instructions on how to change modes

Re: What to pair?
BaseCamp also seems to be missing a function to join tracks which seems like a big oversight Not on the Windows version, I'm often joining tracks, no idea about the Mac version though. I must be missing it. I’m using the Windows version. How do you do it in BC for Windows? Sent from my iPhone using ...

Re: What to pair?
I think I got it figured out. I paired my phone and gps to my headset, and the phone to the gps. Now when I turn everything on (headset last) the headset pairs to the phone first, and then the gps. I turn on the headset after the gps and phone pair. I run my audio through the gps and I get ...
