Re: Battery Life when switched off

FWIW my XT is wired into the ignition. I put it into my locked pannier for stops when the bike's out of sight, not least because I don't like leaving it sitting in the rain! On restarting it picks up the route where I left off. I never fully shut down the XT, even overnight, even on a fortnight's ...

Re: Traffic providers?

1 Connect your device to the Garmin Drive app (Pairing Your Phone and Headset, page 13). 2 On your zūmo device, select Settings > Traffic, and verify the Traffic check box is selected. I did this a while back, and was pleasantly surprised to see traffic data on my XT. It's not the most accurate, ...

Re: XT routing madness

I have taken to having the track present on any route that I'm following. "Road closure" might be another occasion where that comes in useful!

Re: XT routing madness

Thanks, John. My apologies, I phrased my question badly. My setup is as you describe, and my XT shows me traffic problems ahead with estimated delays. I have yet to see a road closure announced, but it didn't occur to me until just now that that's probably because I always plot my routes, in the uk ...

Re: XT routing madness

Where does the road closure information come from? I've never seen any on my XT.

Re: Shared routes not working

Because I share a lot of routes I plot them in Basecamp then load them into MRA. As often as not I find I need to add another via point to ensure both programs, and therefore most satnavs, plot the same route.

Re: Hello from Essex where it's totally flat and with high hedges everywhere.

You'll find, despite the warnings, that Garmin's Basecamp works perfectly well with the XT2. A bit of a learning curve but worth it, IMHO.

Re: Hi All

I'm looking to fit the XT onto my R1250RT. I'm not sure if i'm going to fit it stand alone or using the 3D adapter to the RT sat nav mount. My R1250RS came with the BMW satnav mount. I removed that and fitted the XT mount instead. Wiring-wise the neatest solution was to trace where the satnav ...

Re: XT not flagging closed roads

I've had a look at the connection between my phone (Android) and the XT. Under "App notifications" my phone has Drive ticked. I have no notifications set under "Driver Assistance" for my XT, but under Bluetooth I have the Drive and music symbols visible in blue against my phone, which says ...

Re: XT not flagging closed roads

For current and future roadworks in the UK I find this site invaluable. Otherwise my XT linked to Garmin Drive on my phone (which is in my jacket) and to my headset gives me live traffic information on the XT screen as I travel my route.
