Weather Radar not "Playing" when loading
Re: Weather Radar not "Playing" when loading
The real problem is, that traffic laws doesn't match the modern possibilities of cars, motorbikes, satnav's and so on - there was a cause, i think it was in germany, of a driver getting a ticket because of switching on the windshield wipers on the touchscreen of his Tesla! In my opinion, it's a very bad idea to put such a control on a touchscreen - but this car, with this function, is legally on the streets, so why blame the driver?
Another example - here in Austria the max. loudness (while standing, with an exact rotation speed and with a exact distance of the microphone) of your bike is written down in the registration certificate of it, so you drive legally within this certification, which is handed over by the government. Now there are some streets in tyrol, which have problems with loud (manipulated!) bikes - so they took a randomly value, in this case 95db and all bikes with a value of 95db and above aren't allowed to drive on this streets - although they are legally buyed and certificated and even have no manipulated exhausts and the driving noise is normally way quieter than the noise while standing...

Governments and a whole bunch of officials are getting closer to their citizens, and people allow it, if that does not change, we will have a miserable future - in every area of life.

Re: Weather Radar not "Playing" when loading
Two Questions...
1. Does anyone know which firmware update broke this (showing the weather radar while moving)
2. Where can I download old firmware versions?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Weather Radar not "Playing" when loading
In my case, it was not very difficult to restore software 2.90. Because I am very conservative when it comes to updating (as a rule I do not do them) I had only one update installed over 2.90 - it was uploaded to me, without my consent (when updating maps), version 6.20. Garmin forces (unlawfully in my opinion) software updates when updating maps, even though I was vigilant and deleted all files with the new software, the municipality somehow managed to squeeze the software 6,20 I traveled several thousand kilometers with this unwanted software last year traveling around Europe and I had the impression several times that my Garmin XT shows too late the information about the turns waiting for me, and even after the turn I was supposed to do and I had to turn back) the speed displayed also as if it did not keep up with the current one. Therefore, I decided to restore 2.90 because in this version such situations never happened to me. So to the point, Garmin put a "Rollback" feature on the previous version in a hidden menu, and since my previous version was 2.90, I did. Everything worked out almost well, I had the software 2.90 but apart from resetting the user files, he also deleted the maps (i.e. the files were there but XT did not see them) I repaired it in such a way that using Garmin express, I reinstalled the maps from their copy on the computer that I had left after the upgrade. I did only 200 km on the restored software, but it seems to me that the navigation is much "faster", it is not sluggish, it reacts very quickly. I haven't noticed the lack of any features (which I use) in this older software. I don't know what else has improved (or worsened) because I haven't ridden enough with it. This year I am going to Asian Turkey so there will be an opportunity to test
Re: Weather Radar not "Playing" when loading
For your information - Firmware 5.90 was the 'turning point' on the Zumo XT. This was the moment, in which Garmin merges the firmware with the 'new' Garmin Tread series and this brought us the 'fantastic' new features like support of a rear view camera and the possibility to switch a power supply...
The problem with the maps on your Zumo XT was, that before firmware 5.90 the maps where 'spreaded' around the Zumo XT - one part was in the root of 'Internal Storage', another part in 'Internal Storage/Maps' and the last part in 'Internal Storage/.System/Maps' - Garmin changes these in Firmware 6.10 or 6.20 to put all maps in 'Internal Storage/.System/Maps', also the unlocking files have to be there...
As far as i remember, firmware 2.90 was also the last one to show the animated weather radar also while driving...

Re: Weather Radar not "Playing" when loading
Thank you @Rofor, I did not know these details about the maps, I know the about the introduction of garbage to the software, I am an IT specialist, if I have a free moment, I try to control this Grmin chaos, but unfortunately I have hardly any free time at all. The reason for my Downgrade noticed slowdown in route guidance, the weather radar fixed itself "by the way"

Re: Weather Radar not "Playing" when loading
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of 2.9 firmware? I used to keep backups of all the firmware on my previous Zumos so I could roll back. I'm IT conversant (I'm a network engineer) so I feel comfortable rolling it back. Searching the Internet does not give me any results for old Zumo XT Firmware
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Weather Radar not "Playing" when loading
If you own a pc and did have the Zumo XT long enough, you should find all previous Zumo XT firmwares under 'C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads\PrimaryFirmware\'...
But be aware that you can't update to a newer map without the actual latest software - so to make a map update, you have to switch to the newest firmware, do the map update and have to rollback again. Also be careful - the Zumo XT had different places to store the map before v5.90 and after that! It could be (don't know it for sure) that even when you already have the latest map-update, the Zumo XT maybe doesn't recognize it, as he looks at the 'wrong' places...
