Horrible audio on zumo 395lm

Post by bigmal »

Hi folks
I’ve been a zumo 395 user for a while, but have never bothered with helmet audio.

But I recently got a Sena Savage… a helmet sold by Sena, with audio built in.

I have paired both my Samsung phone and the zumo with the Sena Savage helmet. Music played via Bluetooth from my phone through the Sena headset is really clear, so I know the sound quality the Sena is capable of.

But when a navigation prompt plays, the quality is truly awful…. Crackly and distorted.

I’m wondering if the zumo uses an out of date Bluetooth system compared to modern phones.

Considering the zumo is a£450 unit, you expect all aspects of it to be top notch, but I’m appalled.

Do other users just put up with this or does anyone have a solution?

Cheers folk, ride safe :D

I know it's not a 395 but maybe this post would give you a clue :-viewtopic.php?t=1816
I'm not a fan of Bluetooth stuff but I read that a lot of connection problems are down the order in which devices are linked.

Try turning down the volume on the Sena WHILE the navigation prompt is playing. This worked with my Sena SMH10 and Evo 20s used with Zumo 59/595/XT.

Sena devices maintain different volume levels for different sources, and they apparently see a navigation prompt as being a different source than music, even though both are coming through the GPS.
