Transfering routes from PC to Zumo
Transfering routes from PC to Zumo
Other than using the data cable connection, is there an easier way to send routes from a laptop to the Zumo? Is there a way to use Bluetooth or WiFi to transfer them? Also, can you use the micro SD card to do this?

Yes to most of your questions. I prefer mounting an SD card on my computer and doing all the transfers there, then insert the card in the XT. But using the Garmin Drive app you can also do transfers via Bluetooth.

If you're interested in doing it wirelessly, see the pdf in this post:

Re: Transfering routes from PC to Zumo
I need a solution that doesn't rely on an internet connection. I want to be able to open up my laptop while stopped at lunch, build a route, and load it into the Zumo. Will the Garmin Drive app run on a laptop, or is that just a phone only app? I can't build routes on a small phone screen, so I use Basecamp on my laptop to build my routes. Just looking for an easy transfer method from the PC to the Zumo.

For your lunch stop, no-Internet route creation you will need to pop the SD card out of the XT, run Basecamp on the laptop, save the route on the card, then pop it back into the XT.

I'm sorry but this has never made any sense to me. If the laptop and the XT can be Bluetooth paired then why can't a file simply be transferred via Bluetooth?

Good point Russ. @rbentnail
The XT also has wifi. Why did Garmin not enable file transfer, via FTP, or Filesharing? Would have made life a little easier!
I think because of Garmin Explore.

So he either keeps up with a cable or an adapter for the SD card to fit into the laptop, provided his laptop has an SD card slot. If not then it's a card-to-usb reader.

An alternative while on tour is to plot routes using MRA on a tablet, then Garmin Drive to the XT.

Got any details how to do this? I've been trying for 2 days without any luck.
