does anyone know how much power the XT draws when powered on, assuming full volume and brightness.

2A is what the charging converter is rated at
5A would be fine
I would be going 10A to be on the safe side

In reality you can put any fuse above 5A and if it blew I would be worried as its indicates a fault
As I say 5A will suffice just carry a 10A spare just incase

Sorry to say that the XT power consumption is not listed in its manual or anywhere on the Interwebs that I can find. However, I do still have my zumo 660 manual and it says maximum consumption is 10 watts. So crank in a fudge factor for the XT having a brighter screen and call it 12 watts as a semi-educated guess. That would come out to one amp draw from a 12-volt battery ( a bit less when the engine is running and the alternator is supplying 14 volts).
