Hola,
New ZumoXT user here, I've downloaded basecamp and it has the pretty useless 'Global Map' on it.
When I plug in my Zumo XT it has the CN maps on it and I can access them for planning purposes in Basecamp.
Is there a way of getting the CN maps 'copied' from my Zumo into Basecamp so that I donlt have to have he Zumo unit plugged into the PC if I want a decent(ish) map to plan with?
Many Thanks
Steve
Getting Maps from my Zumo onto the PC (Basecamp)
Re: Getting Maps from my Zumo onto the PC (Basecamp)
@sussamb many thanks for replying,
If I open up Garmin Express I seem to have 2 relevant options 'Manage Maps' and 'Map Details, however, It won't do anything unless I connect my ZumoXT.
When I connect my Zumo XT the system checks for updates (there are none, as I'm a new user so it's all up to date). If I click on 'Manage Maps' the 'City Navigator' is listed. Two options are given' View' or 'Change Region' I cannot see any other options whch might allow me to install the map to my PC.
Grateful for any help on where I need to go from here.
Cheers

Ah ok, if you've never updated the maps on your Zumo you won't see the option under Map Options to install the map to your computer. That only appears after Express has updated maps on your device

Selecting Map Details, then Options, gives me a choice to Reinstall Map or Install To Computer.
If Install To Computer is not shown, Reinstall might count as an update, and won't hurt anything.
And yes, the XT must be plugged in via USB to install the map on the computer.

@lkraus thanks for your reply.
You have solved my problem, I am very grateful to you, I now have the maps on my laptop as I wanted.
Thank you, it just goes to prove the value of a forum such as this, I couldn't find this information in any manual or on any Garmin support/ help page.
Awesome!

@sussamb
I think it was even 'weirder' than that, it seems that the option I could eventually see was dependent upon the order of connection !!!!
If I had Basecamp running and then hooked-up the Zumo I didn't get the correct option, if I had the Zumo plugged in and THEN opened Basecamp all was good and I was able to do the necessary as you and @lkraus were describing.
Thanks to you both it's all sorted now.

Re: Getting Maps from my Zumo onto the PC (Basecamp)
I wonder if you didn't wait long enough for BaseCamp to see the Zumo. It can take a long time for a Zumo to boot up and be recognized as an attached device by the PC and then more time before BaseCamp sees it and makes it available.
