Hi, does anybody use one of those clip on/universal sun shades for your zumo?
Just wondered if the cheapy chinese ones are any good and actually stay on.
I've got the 346, but have only found a universal one for a 4.3" unit
Any links or pics of what you use greatly appreciated
Cheers
Sun shade/visor
Re: Sun shade/visor
I made one from scrap leather bought at a Menonite leather shop for $1. After cutting it out, I sewed loop half of Velcro the the bottom, and attached sticky-back hook part to the unit top and sides. I may need to revisit the hook attachment as the stivky was reused and not holding well. Considering VHB tape. The visor works great!

Sounds good, and if it works, brilliant!
I would think by now Garmin would have made a specific one for the 346/396.
I'm not as handy with things like that so like to just clip on and go.
Thanks for the reply

Re: Sun shade/visor
I purchased a universal one from eBay. Absolute waste of time, depending on the sun direction only partially shades the screen.

Here are a few shots of the one I made for mine. I first made it to replace the one on my 2730 that was just flat worn out after ~ 12 years. Sorry for the poor cell phone photos - it usually does pretty well.

I haven't used a clip-on/universal sunshade for a zumo before, but it's worth considering if you're looking for a cost-effective solution. However, it's important to do your research to ensure that the shade stays securely in place while you're riding.
BTW, consider getting custom-made ones for your car. They offer a perfect fit and provide maximum UV protection without compromising visibility."

Welcome to the forums. An intriguing comment for a first post ! It's always difficult to research such an issue without buying one, fitting one and then seeing how it performs. You cannot believe what the sellers tell you. But comments from members about how theirs performs are always helpful.BeatriceVorel wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 1:24 pm I haven't used a clip-on/universal sunshade for a zumo before, but it's worth considering if you're looking for a cost-effective solution. But its worth considering the comment from another member that no visor is going to help a great deal if the sun is coming from over your shoulder.
I only glance at the Zumo every so often. It gives me all the info that I need and if the sun is on the screen, It has already given me enough info to manage without any more until the sun shifts its position in relation to the screen. It never bothers me, and the dimmer screens of the 590 and 595 never bothered me either for the same reason.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
