Hello all,
I have collected the 595 from the dealer, and tried updating the maps.
The first thing I noticed is that the map that is available is one step behind the 396. The 595 is currently running 2019.10 while the 396 was on 2019.20.
Does anyone have an idea why that would be?
The next thing, is that it does not appear to be possible to load the maps onto the computer. Can anyone with more experience on the 595 Travel Edition confirm this, or at least tell me how to get the maps on the computer?
Thanks for any help
Best regards

Re: 595 Travel Edition Maps on the computer
Have you tried updating the map on your device? It's not unusual for a new device to not have an up to date map. Oops, see you have.
As for installing to PC, I have seen others post they have issues so I guess it's possible you can't do it. Think you will need to call Garmin and ask them about both issues.
If not all is not lost, you'd just have to copy your maps to a removable drive so BC can read the maps off that. I have a usb stick in a rear port on my pc for just that purpose.

Re: 595 Travel Edition Maps on the computer
Is this a recent problem? The latest version of basecamp(or maybe mapinstall) seems to have a problem whereby maps are not sent to the device.I dont think an error message is flagged but the update behaviour is different than normal.

No, this query is about the Travel Edition version, which works differently to most other devices in that it comes with access to world wide maps ... http://www.garmin.com/en-GB/coverage-travel-edition

Re: 595 Travel Edition Maps on the computer
I sent a support query off to Garmin, and they have responded.
In short, the maps run on a different (or older) version, and No you cannot load the maps to the computer. The system would try to download all the maps! (What is the problem with that???)
I guess I will be creating a virtual drive, at least I can then set up different maps.
Best regards

Re: 595 Travel Edition Maps on the computer
Does anyone knows if it is possible to use Basecamp with 595 TE? Having tried and tried again I found this topic. Can you suggest me some solution? This situation seems so absurd to me...
Re: 595 Travel Edition Maps on the computer
You can use TE versions with BaseCamp, but only with the device plugged in. The other alternative is to copy the maps to a SD card or memory stick and use that instead. Map files need to be placed in a folder named Garmin on the card/stick.
Re: 595 Travel Edition Maps on the computer
Thank you! At first time it seem didn't work even with connected Zumo, then I waited much more time and map were slowly loaded...perfect!
Re: 595 Travel Edition Maps on the computer
Yes, any new map that BC uses has to be indexed before first use. This is indicated by a slowly moving green bar under the map. Once that completes you're good to go.
