Re: GPS Tracker (so the missus knows where I am)
Sorry, don't know the answer. Does she have any Apple devices? Find My can display your location on an iPad or Mac computer. She may also be able to log in to an iCloud account (may be even yours?) on any device with a web browser and see your location.Capt Sisko wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 10:35 pmBut do the two talk to each other? I've got an iPhone, my better half an Android?
If the answer is yes it seems like we've already got all we need. Guess the only way is to try it.

I've never had an Apple product so this may sound ignorant but how about basic Location Sharing with Google Maps?

Garmin Tread app for Zumo XT2. Group ride (location sharing) works without Zumo XT2. Install app on your phone, create group, shate it with (dont know many) other phones with Tread app to see location of each other.

Use SWTracker app for iOS (or BubblerGPS for android) linked to Spotwalla account.
Create trip in the trip manager and share the link with her.
You could share the link with the forum and let us all "ride" with you.

Spotwalla and Bubbler were great until they started charging for the service. I now share my location on Google maps not the same route tracking as Spotwalla but if you only want location Google maps do the job.
Re: GPS Tracker (so the missus knows where I am)
Google maps gives me all the peace of mind I need. It wasn't the cost per se it was the principal. They hook you in giving you something for nothing and then start to charge. It just goes against my grain.
But hey horses for courses.

It's a Norwegian tracking service. You don't even have to log in to make trakcs, and it's free. The paid version (registering and login, of course) is US$15 a year, gives you the option to "personalized user page" and to store 100 tracks. There's also a lower fee for a limited track storing online space.
When starting a route/tour, you can share the link to whomever you want or leave a public link for the world to follow.
I am *not* affiliated, but have been using the service for 7 years, and it just works as long as your cell phone signal is present.
Apps for Android, Windows phone and Apple. If you want to register, you'll need to be on a PC/Mac to register and then insert the registry data to the phone app afterwards.

Re: GPS Tracker (so the missus knows where I am)
i use an inreach mini2, pairs nicely with the xt. 2 way messaging, 2 way sos.
i have it activated for my longer trips, and suspend service when not being used.
also/ use to run babbler with spotwalla from my phone. phone and inreach also working together with spotwalla devices.
definitely not a free or super low cost solution, since the price of admission of the hardware
