In a recent email with Garmin they say
"While we appreciate your enthusiasm for the product, since the zumo XT is out of software maintenance we are limited is what we can do with the reports. At this point unfortunately we do not have the resources in product support to test and investigate this amount of individual tickets on the zumo XT model."
Is this a surprise to anyone ?

Re: No more software updates, as if we ever had any
I'm only surprised that they've given up on the XT software in just three years. The hardware is good and most of the software is good, but the routing algorithm is garbage. I think I've bought my last Garmin.
Supposedly the XT and the Tread are the exact same hardware. Maybe someone will figure out how to swap the firmware (like the 590/595), though I've not been impressed by the reported user experience with the Tread.

Seriously? They've already dead-ended the XT?
How much different is the XT 2, aside from the screen size? Is it a start-from-scratch new device or just a bigger XT?
One would think that the software would be pretty close between the two, like the 660 and 665. I remember getting software updates for my old 660 for several years.
Pretty annoying of Garmin to pull the plug so quickly.

See my update regarding an ongoing issue, which might suggest that this is not the case.

6.60 - no mention of routing algorithms, n=but maybe they're too embarrassed by what they inflicted on us!
