I've had my XT since May after using a 660 previously and did a road trip to Rome with my own routes installed and it worked fairly well.
Since then I accidentally used it without a power source and the battery ran very low. The next time I used it, it kept turning itself straight back off, so I put it on the bike to get some charge back in it and eventually it came back to life but i didn't use it to navigate, just had the roads showing on screen. It seemed as though it was starting as a new device, asking for country etc.
Went to use it for a new trip round Britain and it now says map data not available or cannot calculate route. I have tried reloading the maps through Garmin Express but to no avail. I also deleted my saved journeys in case that was causing a problem and have now ended up doing a soft reset using the reset tab in the tools section and again tried reloading the maps. I am still getting the same issues.
Any ideas or am I going to have to try a hard reset or send it back, if I can.
Thanks in advance.
Map data not available/Cannot calculate route
Re: Map data not available/Cannot calculate route
Hi, thanks for coming back so quickly.
I've got:-
Update Maps (which I've done)
Europe DEM
TopoActive PS, Europe Central
TopoActive PS Europe Central
TopoActive PS Europe West
TopoActive PS Europe East
All of these were originally ticked but I have also unticked all but West Europe to see if that made a diference but it didn't.
Forgot to also mention that at one point that screen kept clicking and changing itself but it's only done that once.
It's also just taken a full charge on the bike.

Re: Map data not available/Cannot calculate route
You probably corrupted the memory when the battery lost all charge.
Restore the factory settings.
viewtopic.php?t=2113#:~:text=Power%20on ... Settings).
Than run Express again to be sure everything is up to date. Reset to factory again if anything updates.

Re: Map data not available/Cannot calculate route
OK, the Topo Active maps have no effect on the City Navigator maps, which are clearly missing. You should be able to run Express and reinstall the City Navigator map, what happens when you run Express? Do you not get that option?bikerpab wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 1:26 pmHi, thanks for coming back so quickly.

Re: Map data not available/Cannot calculate route
I don't remember seeing that option. I will try again later and see, now I know what to look for and let you know. Re: Map data not available/Cannot calculate route
Thank you sooo much. Everything now appears to be ok. Just a shame I had to lose all my history and saved routes in the process of getting to this stage.bikerpab wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 5:27 pmI don't remember seeing that option. Was starting to think the XT had become a very expensive mistake. Lets just hope it stays this way! Thanks again
Re: Map data not available/Cannot calculate route
Glad you resolved it. To ensure data loss never happens to me I back up my data to BaseCamp every week or so, and there is also a backup feature in Express.
