What's the procedure for new 396 maps
I am getting a Zumo 396 LMT-S to replace a 550 and I'm looking for a procedure guide for map updates to the computer and Basecamp and (eventually to the 396 using MapInstall). My computer Basecamp already shows that it has the latest 2024.20 North America maps on the hard drive put there by the Zumo 550. But now for the 396, will I need to download a fresh set of unlocked 2024.20 maps again using the 386 to the computer? or can the new 386 use those maps that are already on the hard drive put there by the 550. What's the procedure?

Wayne,
Unlike the 550, your 396 should have enough memory to hold the maps. So, you should be able to use Garmin Express and select the option to load the maps on the GPS. Mapinstall is the way to load maps on the older devices like the 450 and 550, where Express will choke on the limited memory and the large map file size.
