Good luck! I am sporting my 4th unit now (to give Garmin credit, they turn them round very quickly) and whilst in the past I have received a completely new boxed unit, this time it was just the head unit in a Jiffy bag.

My take on this is that it will indeed be a refurbished unit where (hopefully) the freezing and random selections have been fully identified and rectified.

I’ll repost once I’ve had a chance to give it a good run out as it only seemed to fail after a prolonged period of operation - over 2 hours plus.

My fingers are crossed

Good morning Sirs

Yestered I returned my XT2 to my local dealer in Italy, same issue of screen unresponsive to touch inputs as yours. :(
Only 1500km of usage.
Firmware: 4.60 (4.50 seemed not to give the issue, yet I had very short tests on that fw)
Motorcycle: BMW R1250R

Crossfingers!
Hope to read from your exeperiences that Garmin solves the issues on latest devices. :?:

Best Regards

Welcome @sperelli

If Garmin have given you a return number, then you'll be receiving a replacement unit pretty quickly. Your replacement is usually posted ont he same day that yours arrived with them. Probably a refurbished one, but I think they take the models that have been returned, and keep the parts that are working as intended. I've had a few replacement units over the years, and they have all looked brand new.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Thank you for your reply.
Atm I am waiting for feedback from my dealer.
I decided not to return directly to Garmin, hoping to receive a new (not refurbished) unit.

Thanks for the update. Did you have to return everything, or just the console ?

What did the dealer say - they were going to return it to Zumo ?

I always think that it is a pain having to remove wiring, which may involve removing fairing etc.
But it is a nice bonus if you just return the unit, and get to keep the extras - Then get a brand new one in return - it means that you get a spare mount. I find that very handy for desk work and making videos.

My retailer did a straight swap of the unit for one they had in store AFTER Garmin had said nothing wrong with it but I had photo evidence proving otherwise. Retailer said 'I bought it from them, they will deal with it' or words to that effect.

All righty.
This must be a swap for my 5th unit 😱.

Now… 2 important changes:
- the problems all occurred on my previous bike (kawa ninja 1000 sx) that has a lot of high frequency vibrations in the mount.
- garmin checked and there is a completely new hardware update (since a couple of months now) that literally adresses the screen freeze problem.

Having the old hardware is not necessarily a problem, some people will never have issues on certain bikes and mounts.

Current hardware with the issues: V9 Pv3 DT R512D WB

As soon as i have the swap, i ll post the hardware / component details…

Well, I thought it was too good to be true, 4th unit now doing exactly the same as all the previous units - screen freeze, sometimes sorted with a reset but phantom screen selections just like all the other units. Very encouraging that there is a new hardware version, waiting for Garmin to get back to me (email since I didn't fancy a 25min wait on the phone.

looking forward to a 5th unit
