I take considerable time to create a route in Tread but when I sync to my XT2 the route is drastically different than what I created. Thanks Garmin, I guess you know better than I do where I really want to go lol! (At this point I definitely know where I’d like to tell Garmin to go )
I’ve made sure all preferences are the same to the extent they have the same options, both are new and software and maps are up to date. If I simply create a route with waypoints (start and finish) and accept Tread’s defaults (shortest distance) XT2 will accept it. But who needs $1000 piece of crud to do that?? I gotta believe I’m not the only one who’s discovering this ridiculous incompatibility.

Re: XT2 changes Tread’s route when sync’d
A couple of suggestions...
1 - Complete reset of XT2 unit.
2 - Removal and reinstall of latest Tread App. This is required as it does some weird stuff to the unit from previous version
3 - Re-pair during setup
Try again with all updates in play.
If you've done all that before my post, I'm at a loss.

Thanks for the suggestions! I reset, reloaded and re-paired. Same result. Zumo is very insistent on changing my carefully crafted Tread routes.

Re: XT2 changes Tread’s route when sync’d
Thanks for the update.
I have not enabled the sync between Tread and the Unit and I'm glad.
Luckily I use Basecamp and have no use for tread except for the notifications, the weather, and traffic.
But to achieve this you'll have repeat the same steps WITHOUT enabling the syncing of routes between phone and unit.
See my other post on the subject. - Garmin Listened.

Re: XT2 changes Tread’s route when sync’d
I don't know Tread, and cannot experiment much as it requires an XT2.
But I did some testing with how routes from Explore behave when they are sent to the XT. At the time, routes were just straight lines between points, and it was not possible to include a waypoint in a route. But it seemed to make sure that the XT route passed through the invisible points at each change of direction.
Have a look. It may be similar behaviour with Tread and the XT2

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: XT2 changes Tread’s route when sync’d
This is very useful, thx JF. It appears that starting from Tread and transferring to XT2 produces a very similar result as you’ve described going from Explore to XT: XT2/XT maintains the integrity of plotted points yet goes rogue in calculating the rest of the route regardless of what you have plotted in Tread or Explore. The point remains, what use is carefully plotting a preferred route ahead of time in Explore or Tread or anything if the Garmin unit on your bike is going to change it? I would add, how can Garmin possibly recommend this time-wasting process knowing that’s exactly what their very expensive gadgets do?

Re: XT2 changes Tread’s route when sync’d
I think I can probably answer that. But it would involve me in a lot of specuation about the disparity between Garmin's original concept and the ability of the average user or technical support worker to understand it. Particularly when the documentation that I have read hardly disturbs the air above the surface, let alone scratches it.

Re: XT2 changes Tread’s route when sync’d
Not sure where in the cycle you are but I got a firmware update notice this morning for my XT2.
Says it is fixing the Sync Great Rides to the Tread App. Brings Unit software version to 4.70.
Good luck to us all!

Re: XT2 changes Tread’s route when sync’d
Yep got this update as well. Unfortch it did nothing for the jinky-sync issue.
Here’s an example of the freelancing that XT2 is doing to my Tread routes.
This is my route I created on Tread. The solid blue line however is the route that ZUMO XT2 changed for me as you can see in 2nd picture.
