I recently had a ride out with a few friends. The route was pre-planned and loaded onto the XT, we were unlucky enough to come across 5 road closures on the route and the XT didn't know about any of them. We managed to navigate around all of the road closures but I must say that I would have expected the XT to know about these closures. I might add that these were not emergency on the day closures, these were long term road closures.
I had all the options turned on and was connected to my phone which had signal. I moved from Tomtom which handles roadworks really well.
I am in the main happy with the XT but I do wish it would help with road closures better than it does.
Rant over.
XT not flagging closed roads
Re: XT not flagging closed roads
The Xt is not reliable when it comes to roadblocks.
If I want to be sure I check Google Maps.

I concur about how unreliable the XT is when it comes to road closures.
@raesewell, please explain your vision of how this would work, specifically, how you would receive road closure notifications from your phone.

Re: XT not flagging closed roads
In all probability I won't get prior notice for road closures but when I come upon one I can see how Google or Tomtom plans to get me around it.
I suppose I could run Google or Tomtom in the foreground with notifications turned off and just glance at it occasionally, I like to have Speed trap alert running in the foreground so would probably switch when I come across a problem.

Re: XT not flagging closed roads
If I can, I try to check Google for road closures on my route before I leave home so that I can plan my own detours. Even on the occasions when the XT is aware of a closure, the alternate routes it finds are usually very poor choices.

Re: XT not flagging closed roads
For current and future roadworks in the UK I find this site invaluable. Otherwise my XT linked to Garmin Drive on my phone (which is in my jacket) and to my headset gives me live traffic information on the XT screen as I travel my route.
