I'd like to delete all the custom routes and tracks that's collected in my Zumo 660 over the years.
If I delete them in my device, they show up again when I hook up to my computer.
I know I have to delete them from the files on my computer, but I just want to make sure that I do it right and deleting the right files from the right folders.
I do not want to delete my favorites, though.
I need a how-to.
Zumo 660 How to Delete Routes and Tracks
Re: Zumo 660 How to Delete Routes and Tracks
I have an additional question...just trying to be careful here.
On the Internal Memory on my device...
In the GPX folder I find 2 files, One named "Current.gpx" and one named "temp.gpx"
I also have another folder named "Archive", which contains a quantity of numbered gpx. files.
I also have an SD card installed in my device.
It has a GPX folder with 2 files named "Route.gpx" and 4 numbered files named "Waypoints.gpx".
I've been in the habit lately of keeping my maps on the SD card and storing my Routes/Tracks on the Device Internal Memory.
The files on the SD card, I suspect, are probably relics/leftovers from before I starting doing that.
Is it OK to delete them all?
Now that I'm retired (more or less :-/ ), I'm really trying to master my device and routing procedures.
I want to start again with a fresh slate.

If all you're interested in is your favourites then any .gpx file can be deleted. This is because favourites are stored in inaccessible internal memory and can only be deleted using the menus on your Zumo.

Current and temp will contain the routes tracks, and favourites that have been loaded into the Zumo at some point. If you think they might be useful, then save them somewhere before deleting. Archive contains old track logs - where you have ridden in the paast. There will be a miximum of 20 files in there Save to delete the files and the archive folder. The zumo will create new ones of anything that it needs.
Basecamp can load them in and make sense of them if you want to know what is there.

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: Zumo 660 How to Delete Routes and Tracks
Are these the favorites I don't want to delete?
Or are those favorites in a different file?
Re: Zumo 660 How to Delete Routes and Tracks
See my earlier post. Favourites cannot be deleted by deleting .gpx files
current.gpx is simply a one way copy of your favourites in inaccessible memory. If you delete it your zumo will recreate it. If you're concerned simply save current.gpx on your PC then delete it on your device. Reboot your device and you'll see it reappears.

No. As @sussamb said, you cant favourites by removing files.
Those files (current and temp) might contain the favourites that were transferred to the Zumo. Eg, from Basecamp, Mapsource or a gpx file. Zumo then stores them away somewhere. Later Zumos strips them out of the file once it had stored them, but I don't think the 660 did. Whatever, you might want to keep them on your computer to peruse them at a later date. Basecamp will read them.
Does the 660 have a 'share' facility in the favourites area ? That might be a way of keeping them.

Re: Zumo 660 How to Delete Routes and Tracks
There's no "share" that I can find.
I'm just going to copy the files to my computer before I delete them and not worry about it if something gets lost.
Most of the favorites are campgrounds, lodging, and Touring POI's, info that I could probably access again from the internet if I lost them. Only a few are based on coordinates only.
Better safe than angry.
