Update.
For your information, my 3rd Zumo XT2 has now been running for over 3000 km without any failures.
I hope that the newer batches are better and that I will no longer have the problem with the touch.

It’s really interesting that the OG XT2 fails on some bikes and not others, twins seem to be worse affected than others - I really keen to see if the hardware update solves all the issues. I suspect that the issue had always been there and in true Garmin style, just ignored until a hardware revision has been issued. Had this with some of the Fenix series of Tri watches also. Endless Bluetooth connection problems until a revised hardware config was released.

Thanks for the update. Its good to know that you finally have it sorted.
What is the hardware version on your latest device please ?

Always I have noticed areas of the screen which do not respond readily to touch. I put it down to gloved finger, but it didn't happen in the main part of the screen - the most obvious place was the top right corner.
More recently - similar behaviour when trying to select a segment in the route planner. No finger touch would register for a number of attempts. The screen also went into sluggish mode taking ages to refresh and getting slower with time - as if it had a memory leak or similar behaviour with older computers 'Thrashing' shunting content out to virtual memory.

A complete reset cured it. I'm going to record evidence later today and get onto Garmin. I just wondered if it was related to your experience since my hardware is the same as yours was. This is not bike related - this is all at my desk.

Yes or No will do !

My 5th replacement unit is on its way to me from Garmin. When I receive it, I will post the hardware version - hopefully uplifted from the failed 4th replacement. Wish me luck.

Many thanks for that @proofresistant

Mine is a later 7v8 023 xxx - so should be ok.

No screen freeze but the top right hand corner is unresponsive with gloves. Rest of screen is OK. Also - when it has been on a while, using trip planner to select the route - well it just doesn't work. Its OK after starting from cold though. Odd.

I'm just trying to gather the evidence so that it closes off all of the 'go away and do this and in the meantime we'll forget about you and you can go through the process with another member of the support staff' responses. Also to make sure that there no other circumstances.

I wanted to check that it wasn't starting to be the same thing that everyone else had experienced.

Thank you.

Hi! Unfortunately mi two weeks old unit with S-No: 7V8030*** has the same problem. Unresponsive screen soft reset doesn’t do anything.
I used it on one half day ride and it was turned on couple of city rides.

I might be the fleet leader with my 5th unit now in my possession

Serial Number 7V8040xxx
Hardware V9 Pv3 DT R512D WB

Currently behaving itself as its sat on the kitchen worktop - will update on my next ride out with it.

I'm actually wondering if I have a case for the unit being (in my experience) not fit for purpose and trying to get a refund and forget Garmin. Real shame as I love the interface and generally the equipment - when it works!

I used Garmin Edge 500/800/1000/1030 and Fenix 3 for mountain biking and never had a problem with them so the Zumo XT 2 was an 'obvious choice'. Now, it doesn't look like a good idea... I hate the warranty hassle with a two weeks old unit. Send it in, wait for a replacement etc. I'll see if I can get a refund and buy something else... but I don't know what.
