Hi, I've been having a weird issue where I've imported a GPX via Garmin Explore and then my Zumo XT keeps restarting over and over.
I've tried reinstalling and setting up as a new device. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Maybe I should just ditch Garmin Explore.

Not sure if this will help but I once had a similar experience with an XT2. After trying a few things, I removed the sd card and left it plugged into a USB charger for a while. Eventually it settled down and I have not seen the issue since. A very low battery maybe?

Re: Zumo XT Crashes and Restarts Continuously
my new XT would not start up, then it did and displayed the Garmin logo then shut down, it repeated this about 5 times until i plugged the XT into a 2.4 amp output wall charger and left the battery charge up, after 5 hours that original problem stopped. i suspect low battery condition does this

Re: Zumo XT Crashes and Restarts Continuously
btw, I am not happy with my XT because it only can do bluetooth audio output, i really like my 3.5mm wired ear phones i had for the 550 which is gone, but now thinking of returning to a wired audio output garmin gps again, is this a good or bad idea?

Re: Zumo XT Crashes and Restarts Continuously
Another vote for low battery here. When charging make sure that the Zumo starts up, but then turn it off - just a short press of the button. Then leave it 'til the same time tomorrow.
Wireless vs Wired. I was extremely happy with my wired autocom and Zumo 590. Not entirely free of issues - so I always carried spare mic and spare extension leads. The XT required a BT device to communicate, and that was not so good - being sensitive to the starter motor drop in power. So just after setting off, BT would cut out. I did like the sidetone from the autocom. ie being able to hear your own voice - so you knew the mic was working.
The Cardo Edge is pretty good. That is 100% BT. No longer tripping over the lead when I get off. The connection is 100% reliable and I am converted. But there is a delay between talking and the pillion receiving. about 1 second. And it gives rider to pillion, group conversation and phone calls, email, messages (selectable) coming from the Drive or Tread app on the phone.
The XT and XT2 are both BT only. The last Zumo to be wired were the 590 and 595. Possibly the 395 and 396 - but you would need to check that. The battery for the 59x series was appalling. It never seemed to get the charge, and a new battery never cured it for me. I always suspected the connection to the battery. But it was never fixed. I still have both, but have to put them into the USB socket if I want to use them for more than 2 minutes. That is being generous. But the still work well in the bike cradle.
I don't use music from phone - that has never worked well.

Re: Zumo XT Crashes and Restarts Continuously
Some folks have had success plugging their wired earplugs into a bluetooth receiver which is connected to the XT. IIRC, @rbentnail
does this. There is a discussion about it here somewhere. I'll be back to post a link to it if I can find it.

FWIW, I was wired prior to getting my XT. I now use, and am satisfied with Cardo Packtalk Bold headsets for me and my pillion.

Re: Zumo XT Crashes and Restarts Continuously
The device I referred to was the autocom BTM03 module that connected to the bike battery. Excellent except for the dropping the connection after pressing the starter button ! It just demanded a different procedure for setting off. Perfect after that.
I believe that Autocom have folded - although the website is still online - and the BTM03 is not difficult to get hold of, but other products exist.
I have a BT headset. Cheap. Works. I only use it for testing things out at my desk, but I know people that wear a similar device under their hemet.

Yep, I sure do. The thread linked above is a good discussion of it. I used my little Bluetooth receiver last weekend. Still works great!
TWtom, I thought you got yourself a bluetooth receiver to use.

Re: Zumo XT Crashes and Restarts Continuously
i did get a bluetooth receiver, a little UGREEN model #CM596 with a 3.5mm earphone socket, but the battery on it seems very small and it has a single button for all receiver operating functions, haven't ridden the bike with it yet but I suspect that little battery would only be good for 2 hours of audio riding - via XT bluetooth to the UGREEN receiver then to my wired earbuds. I worry the battery is not big enough. the UGREEN is only 2 inches long and i find it hard to use the main button on it. also in simulation testing out a route with that UGREEN i only get the 2nd word spoken to my earbuds, the 1st word in the message like "turn" or "in" always gets dropped, so it's either the XT or the receiver doing that, don't know, I suspect its the bluetooth connection between XT and the UGREEN

Re: Zumo XT Crashes and Restarts Continuously
Well, I tried again to test the 1st dropped word problem on XT bluetooth audio directions voice for a route. It's now working right. I charged up the receiver battery and I unpaired the UGREEN BT audio receiver and paired it again anew to the XT, set the XT on Simulation Navigation Mode setting, plugged my earbuds into the BT receiver via its 3.5mm jack, also plugged the UGREEN receiver into a portable battery pack via the USB-C port on the receiver, started a short simulation route for testing that had dropped the 1st voice word, and that 1st voice word for direction that was dropped is now spoken and working. I set the Navigation voice person to Samantha, don't know if that made any difference. I think plugging the BT receiver into a portable battery pack will solve my fears of having low run-time battery life on the receiver. Thank you guys for the comments, this Zumo forum has very knowledgable people.
