volume problem

Post by bigdave »

good evening, hope someone can point me in the right direction

my 590 has just started to play up ( im thinking since its last update) voice command and speed camera warnings are very quiet, i cant hear a thing over 40 mph, whilst music is still really loud as normal, ive adjusted the volumes in the menu to 100% and turned down music to 30% so i can turn up the volume on my cardo to maximum to no avail, ive tried to seek help from garmin but they dont support the 590 any more apart from self help and this subject wasnt asked

ive tried a factory reset and even tried a restore in garmin express that didnt help, ive deleted and reset the bluetooth conections again to no avail, the cynic in me is thinking its garmins update that has done it on purpose so i get rid and buy a new XT2, but apart from the vlume it works well and its a pain in the bum to route the wire from the holder to my power sourse on the bike so id rather keep it

On my helmet, a Shoei Neotec 2 with the SRL2, there's separate volume levels for music / sat nat instructions etc. That caught me out when I updated the helmets software. IIRC I had to adjust the volume when the item I wanted to change was making the sounds.

Might be worthwhile seeing if yours also has this feature?

Yes it comes with separate adjustment for music alerts and maps, the music has been turned down and voice and alerts are at max

There is a master volume and a mixer volume. Then there is the volume on your headset. Typically the master volume control is not available with BT, and control is on the headset itself.

I have the Cardo edge. Volume is controlled by the wheel on the side - but that seems to have a limit.
"Hey Cardo Volume Up" boosts it considerably - beyond the range that the wheel provides. No I don't understand that either, but it does.

Are you sure the music is coming from the Zumo. Maybe the cardo has paired itself to the phone direct and is by passing the Zumo completely ? In which case the volume on the phone may be affecting things.

Check the source of the music on the Zumo itself too in the media player.

I'll need to dig out my 590 to try to reproduce your error. It certainly had the latest software on it - and was fine - but I had wired headset when I used that.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

This is how my Sena SMH10 and 20S work. The important factor is adjusting the volume at the headset while listening to a particular source. Sometimes getting navigation instructions just right takes a few tries because they are so short. Volume controls on the phone and Zumo are kept at maximum and reduced at the headset. Poor sound quality for nav instructions is a sign that volume for that source is set too high.

the music was 100% coming from the zumo, i tend to use the roller on the side as i find the voice control works when it wants to, apart from randomly turning on the bloody radio if i talk, then cant get the thing off , must be my scouse accent it dosnt like :lol:
