Russ isn't a 'computer' guy so I suspect he is seeing duplicates on the XT and not internal storage using a file explorer. I don't see duplicates on my XT but an attempt to import a route resulted in hang at the 97% mark. I restarted the XT and Trip Planner now opens with a blue circular rotating arrow. I have not yet attempted any troubleshooting.
Actually, with my XT connected to my laptop, in Base Camp I'm seeing 2 CN NA NT map sets. Took some searching but I found by unplugging the XT and checking my maps/installed maps, one set is for the ALL USA and the other is ALL MEXICO & CANADA.

TOPO maps have always been checked, I see no reason they shouldn't be now.

Using Garmin Express, I re-installed the map update to my XT. Then, again using Garmin Express, installed the maps to my computer. Then I re-connected the XT to the laptop and waited. Then using Base Camp I recalculated all the routes on my SD card (my exclusive storage space for routes).

Now importing 2 routes at a time takes less than 2 seconds, the way it should be. There have been no changes in the 6 or so routes I've checked so far.
Glad you've resolved it. What you're seeing map wise is correct. NA map is in 2 parts on your device due to the FAT32 limit, no such limit on your PC so it shows the complete map.

I tried it today and ended up having to update the XT over WIFI, then use GE to put the map on the PC for Basecamp.
GE wouldn't download from Garmin with XT connected, even though it showed I had a map update available.

I'm glad this worked for you. I'm scared of updating via WiFi. The one time I did it, GE didn't see the new map and kept wanting to upgrade even though the version shown on the XT was the one GE wanted to update to. It was as if GE was not polling the XT to see what version was on it but instead was reporting the last version it knew about. I don't remember how I fixed that mess.

While this may not be specifically germane to the "Subject" as listed but I thought I would just post it anyway.

A couple of years ago (don't remember why) I made some copies of the files on my Garmin GPS devices to "thumb drives".

Today, I was doing some other work and decided to review the Thumb Drives I had to see what was on them and to properly label them.

I had just updated the maps on my Garmin 595. So, I thought I would see if I could actually use the Thumb Drives.

So, I plugged in on Thumb Drive and it was identified as my Garmin 665. And lo and behold Garmin Express (which I still had running) said I had an update and it was the new 2025.2 Garmin Map.

From some reason I thought Garmin stopped making these maps available on the 665 (even though the devices were Lifetime Maps).

Anyway, the update works (at least the files downloaded) and since my 665 now has 16GB on board (thanks to Palm Doc)I will give the actual device a try and see if can be really updated.

Right now I am updating my 550 clone with the 2025.2 Garmin Map. And yes I know I cannot copy it to the device but I might try copying it to the SD card I have used for the recent larger maps. The only issue with the 550 (if I were to use the new Maps) would be the loss of the lettering. I don't think the 550 can show "lower case" letters.

Next to try the 660 clone. I did not have the 660 upgraded to 16GB though..

Just thought you would like to kow.

Will update these message as I find out more information.

Just checked by connecting my 665 with 16GB capacity to the computer and Garmin Express saw it but did not allow the maps to be updated.

Also, funny thing I don't remember from before, I tried to see where the maps were stored on the 665 and could not find them. I looked on the 16GB SD card and they were not there either.

On the 665, the computer shows that 5 plus GB (of the 16GB available) are in use on device. But the actual location of the maps is not shown.

But, the cloned Memory Stick worked fine. Strange.
