Thats very weird and can't recall a problem like that ever before. If something shows on the XT2 map it should show in BaseCamp. I'll try to have a look at that later on my BaseCamp.

Unfortunately I'm in France and my laptop doesn't have the NA map so can't look to see if I can replicate the problem but one thing you might check, although it's a long shot, is look in BaseCamp in Edit, Options, Activity Profile, Select map display features then Lines, Transportation. Ensure you initially select the routing profile you use, which I guess is Motorcycling? Ensure all road types are selected as it could be that part of the road has been allocated different attributes to the rest.

I don't have your maps / PC or XT2 so have run out of ideas. I've never met that sort of problem, unless I'd messed up by having the zoom level set incorrectly so that roads that exist, didn't "show".

In Basecamp, go to Edit>Options>Activity Profile>General tab>Map display features. Check the box for Lines>Transportation>Unpaved.

You should be able to see McLachlin Rd at the end of Rosedale Rd.(N45° 00.823' W76° 02.785', for the curious)

If you still cannot route on McLachlin, open the route, Route Options tab, Customize Route options. uncheck the Road type avoidances box for Unpaved Roads.

An alternative, if you always wish to allow unpaved roads, is to make this change for all routes which use the current activity profile via Edit>Options>Activity Profile>Routing tab. That will recalculate all routes in your BC database using the profile.

I added the selected shaping point shown. Otherwise, depending on other points on the route, Salter Rd was preferred to reach Rosedale Rd.

@lkraus That did it!!

I didn't think to do that, as McLaughlin is paved. In truth, I likely would not have thought of that anyway. :)

Thank you all for your help and input. I'm not as active here as many of you, but each time I've come here with a problem, you guys step up to help. I truly appreciate it.

Now, if the temp will only rise about the single digits, I can get out and ride.

I'm glad we found the problem. Although I posted the Google Maps link, I did not really look at the road to see that it was actually paved. Map errors like this can be reported to Garmin or directly to their map provider, Here Technologies.

I also find it helpful to have alternate maps available for comparison. I see now that the Open Streets Map for that area does show McLachlin as paved, and allows routing on that road.

@gwilki glad that was the issue and sorry I didn't have the NA map with me to verify that my idea was correct. Thanks to @lkraus for doing so.

In situations like this, Google maps / satellite view / street view are extremely useful - to pin point road junctions, hotel car par entrances, roads that have been abandoned and are now inaccessible - but which are still plotted on the maps.

Many locations allow you to view historic street view / satellite imagery. The much loathed (by me) Explore routing app from Garmin has a pretty good satellite overlay on which tracks can be hand drawn and exported. It is often good enough to pick out 'desire-lines' on moorland ie The paths that people actually walk rather than the path plotted on the map.

Another issue is that it is possible with OpenSource maps to make changes to the map yourself. Garmin uses OSM maps according to its copyright acknowledgements. Quite recently at one Garmin map update, a local road which is my only way to access our street, became a no through road - according to the satnav. It would not navigate along the full length. There have been many incidents with cars trying to avoid queues on the main road, taking short cuts along this road. Cars colliding head-on at the very steep, narrow section. Locals - who's front doors open directly onto the narrow pavement, understandably getting concerned. It is steep, and very narrow. In winter it is often icy and is rarely treated. The local residents have been trying to get something done about it for years.

So I went onto the open source map sites where contributions to their very detailed mapping could be viewed and, with the right permissions, edited. Apparently, this road now has bollards half way down its length !

I make no comment, I was just pondering the solution to the maths problem : 2 + 2 = ?

Anyway, this is a redundant contribution to the problem. Thanks @lkraus and others for helping out with this.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
