Auto play music

Post by Triplog »

I've just changed phones from a Samsung Galaxy to a Google Pixel8 Pro. I've linked it to my XT2 but now every time i start the gps music automatically starts playing on it (I'm using the Power amp app).
How can I stop this please?

I don't know, I use music off a micro SD card and it too plays automatically when I switch on my XT2. Which can be very annoying!

I suspect that it's a "feature" as I've read that the XT does the same.

My music is also on the SD card but that source has never played automatically, it was the music on my phone that automatically played. Here is how I solved that on my XT (phone is an iPhone). Don't know about XT2 with an Android phone.

- Go to Settings
- Select Wireless Networks
- Select your phone
- Untick Media Audio

Be advised that this must be done every time you re-pair the phone.

Thanks Peabody but that doesn't really work either. Once paired my phone connects automatically when the xt2 is switched on and the media is automatically ticked so the music starts playing. If I untick the Media Audio the phone disconnects. If I then leave it unticked and shut down the xt2, then restart it, it won't automatically connect to the phone (but will once i tick the Media Audio box!)
I never had this problem with my last phone looks like I'll just have to live with it!

(I've also discovered it starts playing automatically on my radio once I connect to that! :D )

Found a workaround of anyone is interested. Gps has MP3 or Bluetooth sources. If I set it to MP3 it senses the Bluetooth connection but won't auto play. Easy to switch source back to MP3 If I want it to play.

Yep, I have mp3 selected and it pops up it has detected Bluetooth audio and asks if I want to play it. I select no. This may happen each time I take the phone out of range and bring it back again but to me it's a minor thing. I'm sure other will moan and wail and whine about having to touch the screen an extra time or three. You could simply disable Bluetooth altogether to stop the "problem".

As an update to this, I dug a bit deeper into the settings in the Power Poweramp music player on my phone. (Autoplay happened nomatter what i connected the phone to, gps, radio, in car or tv!) There are various settings for output behaviours. Fiddling with these didn't produce any improvements. BUT i then went through and reset everything to their defaults and the Autoplay problem disappeared. I can only assume something messed up when everything was being ported from my old phone to the new.
This might be of help to anyone suffering a similar problem!
