I have a Zumo 665 and a Zumo 660. The following question regards the 660 but it might also relate to my 665.
I connected the Zumo 660 to my computer and had Garmin Mapinstall up and running. I was sort of playing around but was surprised when the program told me I could load the newest Garmin maps on the device. The only issue, it said, was that the Maps had to go on the SD Card and my 16 MB SD card was too small. It said I would have to load a 32 MB card to get the newest maps on the 660.
So, I got a 32GB memory card and I copied all the files from the 16GB card (this included Books and Music) to a folder on my MacBook and then removed the 16GB micro SD card from my card reader and inserted a freshly formatted 32GB micro SD card.
I then copied all the files from the folder to the 32GB SD Card. Once the copying was finished I dismounted the SD card from the computers card reader/holder and inserted it into the Garmin 660. Turned the Garmin on and..... It started up and seemed to work (I did not check the maps for the right version it was 2025.20).
No issues with map being shown but I then tired to find a book. No books were there (although six were copied to the SD card. Also there was no music shown. There were about 26 folders each folder containing between 12 and 16 songs.
Ok, the question is, should you be able to clone an SD card the way I did?
If not, is there a process to clone the 16GB SD card so that the information will be available on the 32GB SD Card?
Thanks.

I can't tell from your post whether you were able to confirm that the 660 read anything off the SD card. If you weren't, then I would check the formatting of the card. Garmin requires the card be formatted with a FAT32 file system but most new cards are formatted with an exFAT file system. Format the card as FAT32 then try again.

when putting music on a SD card, maybe the zumo will look for mp3 files in a folder called mp3, try to rename your music folder to MP3 then see if your 660 can read and play music, you might be able to add all your different music folders under/inside that main MP3 folder, dunno how it works sorry

Yes, music need to be if a folder named MP3. You can create whatever subfolder structure you want within that folder. Mine is by artist then album.

I will verify the 32GB card is formatted as FAT32 and try again.Peobody wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 3:05 am I can't tell from your post whether you were able to confirm that the 660 read anything off the SD card. Re: ZUMO 660 SD Card File Transfer & Update (16GB to 32GB)
The SD Card was not formatted in FAT32. I assumed it was. I reformatted the disk to FAT32 and it works.
Next step will be to see if I can do the same thing with my 665.
I have not updated the Maps yet to 2026.10. I want to make sure the 32GB disk works like it should. So far all indications are that it will.
Thanks again for the feedback and responses.
