Update to Europe NTU 2026.1

Map Europe NTU 2025.2 update to 2026.1 - M4 Mac Mini and Windows 11 Laptop.

Express 7.24.0.0 on both computers and a clean install to Zumo XT2 but Map Options offers Reinstall Map only - No install to computer for MacOS or Win 11. Searching forums finds issues of this type on a number of Garmin Express versions but no clear fix.

Windows 11 24H2
Basecamp has no issues 2026.1 on the XT2 but the laptop install is stuck at 2025.2. Tried restarts and reinstalls of Express 7.24.0.0 but no reappearance of the install to computer option.

Mac OS Sequoia 15.3
Same as above - M4 Mini is on NTU 2025.2 and Basecamp is working with the XT2 on NTU 2026.1. Tried restarts and Express reinstall but no install to computer available.

I can work with Basecamp using a type C connection and the XT2 but no joy installing NTU 2026.1 to either computer. Any suggestions for an install to the local machine?

After some investigation an answer to my own question.
Uninstall 7.24.0.0 and reinstall 7.23.0 - various options now available in Garmin Express and NTU 2026.1 installed OK on my M4 Mini. To be followed up with similar on my Windows laptop.

Took it one step further and uninstalled 7.23.0 then reinstalled 7.24.0.0 but the Garmin Express install options disappeared, back to 7.23.0 and all was well. Hope that helps someone!

I have just updated my map to Europe NTU 2026.1 and then I noticed that it has only installed it on the XT but not on the PC. I found your post and I downgraded Express to 7.23.0.
How do I now proceed to install the map onto my PC? I don't see an option for this in Express. Can you explain what you did please?

Map Details→ Options→ Install to Computer
NA here, but should be the same for Europe.

Open Garmin Express 7.23.0.0
Ignore the GE update
A clean start - Garmin Express 7.23.0.0 > Settings > General Settings and untick Launch.. - ...running in the background... - Automatically open...
Connect the XT2 to Computer
Check for Updates
Click on Map Details > then Options
You should have Map Options (i.e. your current map), Reinstall Map and Install Map to Computer panels

Thank you very much Dave! I found it now, it turned out I had to disconnect the XT before this showed up.
I hope that Garmin will fix this issue in an update, I think the same problem cropped up with another update some time ago, and it was later fixed.

It should be the same, but it is not, as mentioned by dhwalt and myself. We don't have the Install to PC option with our Europe map.
This must be a bug.

Wow, so GE 7.24.0.0 will not install a map to a PC when an XT2 is connected nor when the map is Europe. This is nuts!

I installed NTU 2026.1 on my PC running GE 7.24.0. I just needed to try the various menus and options until I found one that worked. I'm fairly sure I had the XT connected.

Dear All, just new on the forum and not exactly a Garmin Basecamp/Zumo XT expert although, somehow, I managed to successfully plan and travel to Turkey and Iceland and back using BaseCamp If somebody could kindly help me, I would appreciate it and I thank you in advance. Sorry for the long message. Context: Windows 11, Zumo XT, GE 7.24 version, BaseCamp 4.7.5, purchased City Navigator NTEU in 2023 (installed on the SD card), City Navigator NAmerica came with the device (I live in USA). Questions: 1) never got an update on City Navigator NT EU after 2024.1, is there a limited amount of updates you can get ? if not, how could I update it? GE doens't provide me with this option, it only asks me if I wish to install the purchased map again. I have already done it but the version is still the old one while I read here you are already debating 2026.1!! 2) GE, after clicking on "Manage my Maps", shows "My Maps" (and there I find North America A, 2026.1, so ok) but then, on "Removable Storage", where I would expect to find Europe, there is nothing. In BaseCamp, on the contrary, when Zumo is connected, I can see the EU map correctly shown on the SD card. Except that I have two of them, same version 2024.1 but different codes. I think I can eliminate one by right clicking and selecting "eject", but which one? Maybe best option would be to eject both of them and reinstall the purchased version? 3) Why, if I do not connect the Zumo, the European Map is not shown on BaseCamp? I suppose it is bcs it is not installed on the PC. I researched through the PC Files => Garmin => Maps and it is not there, neither NA by the way. So I can I move the EU and NA map to the PC ?
