Good morning,
I am really looking forward to buy a XT or XT2 but first I would like to get some knowledge from those who already use it and be "prepared" to deal with it as I still use my mobile apps ... that are really not perfect for a long trip.
If you need some info about Portugal and trips to make feel free to ask.
See you around,

Re: Hello from Sintra - Portugal
Welcome to the forum from North Carolina, USA. There are lots of facts and opinions here on both the XT and XT2. I think the decision about which one could boil down to whether or not you do route planning, and if you do, how you do it.

Thank you Peobody and ZFtracker,
Yes I know and they all have their reasons for choosing each one. For me I love planning my trips and to know where to go, what to see and (more or less) how long will it take me as to find places where I can eat, fill the tank and sleep (either hotel, camping or ...).
I wish I had "all the free time I need but I don´t" so I need to have a schedule that can (and probably will) be redone during the trip (some new places some local told me or other).
That's the principal reason I've joined this forum (got to know it from Africa Twin Forum) to get personal views and use from you all and them decide which one suits me more.
Thanks.

Re: Hello from Sintra - Portugal
Hi Sintra, I have a Zumo 396 and also Garmin Basecamp on my windows 11 PC computer, I like to do trip planning on the PC using Basecamp then export the routes and waypoints to the GPS, all i know about the XT and XT2 is the XT can use and connect to the Garmin PC Basecamp program and the XT2 does not use Basecamp but uses a smartphone app I think it's called Tread. with Tread on your phone you connect to the Zumo XT2 to do route and do trip planning on the XT2 using your phone Garmin Tread app that you install on the phone
