Zumo XT2
Hardware V9 Pv3 DT R512D WB
Software v5.40
From a cold boot it takes the XT2 a long time before the screen is showing anything useful.
During some of that time the handlebar controller will have had power and it springs into action within a few seconds of the Warning screen appearing.
From a warm boot, the XT2 screen pops up almost immediately but it takes the handlebar controller about 20 seconds after that before the light comes on.
But when the lights come onto the controller - it is responsive immediately. Except for the buttons that require data from the phone, if the phone is not nearby - eg Traffic; map zoom if no map. (You somethimes get a message, but not in every case).
In all cases - Start from cold. (Start from standby. Powered on by XT2 button. Powered on by ignition) once the handlebar controller lights are illuminated, the buttons work.
If you tell me what buttons you have programmed, I'll check it again.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
From a warm start of the XT2 ( from sleep ) none of the buttons are working. Zooming is the primary function for me. Buttons are lighted though.
Garmin support is looking into this issue. Give them some time

Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
Ok, I now have different observations.
Yesterday my Handlebar controller was not reliable.
I experienced:
No buttons working.
Lower button long press not performing required action (Traffic)
If I Turn off ignition, Remove XT2 from cradle, long press power down, return XT2 to cradle and turn on ignition, everything starts fine - except 'Traffic' display on long press lower button. But it did work when reprogrammed to something else , so that's a different issue.
I kept getting a message BT could not connect to some long number which I have never seen before - but that may be a different issue too.
I wasn't able to repeat the problem at will. Sometimes it wouldn't work, sometimes it did.
I'll try to reproduce your observations today @Dutchgixxer .

Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
I've just done a bit of testing.
I tried the the following with the XT in the cradle and IGnition off.
XT2 On
XT2 in standby
XT2 Off by long press power button.
And then turned the ignition on and waited for the handlebar controller to light up.
Then I tried the similar three things with Ignition On -
Turn XT2 off, with the button and then turn it on
XT2 put into cradle to turn on
Turn XT2 hard off, and then turn it on
All produced the same results - The handlebar controller worked.
Traffic still wouldn't work - but then it wouldn't show the side menu on the right by using the screen. Thinking about it, If traffic is on, I think it pops up when it has some information - it ins't there all of the time.
When you turn on the music player, it produces a banner at the bottom of the screen. If you press a button when that is there, it says that the map function is not available.
Is it my imagination, or does the screen not repsond properly when the controller is connected ?
This doesn't prove anything - except that it works under test conditons. Yet it failedtow work when I was out and about onthe bike. The most reliable way to get it to work was to power the XT2 off completely and then back on again.
But I don't know what I did just before it stopped working. It can't be random There has to be something that causes it.

The same thing happens when you select a track on the map, change something, and then go back. Zooming the map with the controller is no longer available. I have already sent this BUG to Garmin.

Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
Same experience here. When navigate a route: When i want to zoom in : zoom function not avaiable. When using a track ( no navigation instructions need) the zoom funtion withe the handlebar controller works fine. Reboot the xt2 does sometimes solve the issue

Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
I have the same experience
cold start (turn gps on by switched power from bike):
the buttons are active in 20 seconds
I can zoom in and out on map, skip song or get route info (my settings)
When I select a preprogrammed route, calculating takes long
AND..... ZOOM in and ZOOM out dont work. (skip song en route info work)
I get a message banner zoom is not available
when I turn zumo into standby and turn on again (power on bike still on) , all the buttons work
quite dissapointing (it took them 10 years to develop.....)
