danham wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 1:03 pm OK, now I understand the problem and per usual, sussamb is correct. Have you tried using Express, Map Details, Options to re-install 2026.10 without first deleting any files? That option is offered on my Mac using Express 7.25.0.0. That is the safest option.
Yes, the first thing I did was update Express which is v6.60 on my MacBook Pro. As for BC, I'm on the latest v4.8.13. I then proceeded to update to 2026.1 While going through the steps, I received a pop up stating that it couldn't download. I then checked my Privacy & Security settings > Full Disc Access & Files & Folders. All was turned on as shown below. I then tried once again downloading v2026.1 in which it still wouldn't. I then proceeded looked around in Express to see if I could re-install. I was able to do so.... Now I have all three on the XT showing up on my Map list as shown in the OP.

If you do need to delete old map files on your GPS, to avoid bricking your zumo, simply copy the files to your Mac before deleting them from your GPS and do not touch anything else on the XT. If for some reason the Express install goes wrong, you will have the original files intact on your Mac.
I believe I did that last time and somehow I screwed it up, bricking the 595LM

In order to see the XT files on your Mac you are going to need a program called Open MTP, which allows you to see and work with files on an Android device (which your XT is). Open MTP has a friendly look that is just like the Finder on your Mac, so it's not scary to use. ;-)
I'll look into this again. Appreciate the help, Thanks. Ray

Since I use an SD card for all my routes, what is your thoughts of me installing just City Navigator North America on my SD card? I do have that choice under Manage Maps in Express. Maybe, this would just complicate things worse giving me 4 versions of 2026.1?? It's beyond me why Express doesn't automatically delete the previous versions and/or current the curren version when you use the Re-Install option.

Placing the NT map on the SDcard will not help, the XT will still see any maps that are in internal memory.

The Windows version of Express does delete the old NT map version from internal memory whenever a newer map is installed. I did have a temporary issue with my old 590 and once found the older version was not deleted.

You can manually delete the maps by activating access to the .System folder, where the maps are stored in \zūmo XT\Internal Storage\.System\Map. The file names are not descriptive (D#######A.img), so use Basecamp to identify the correct file names to delete:

I'm still a little confused about what exact steps you are taking, so let me try to briefly summarize what SHOULD work...

Express for Mac is now at version 7.25.0.0. Is that the one you have?

Quit ALL programs, especially Basecamp, and connect your XT. Wait for it to go into Connect mode, which can take a while. Launch Express. Go to the Map Details, Options menu to re-install the latest map.

I THINK I understand that you have done this but got some popup saying it couldn't download the map? At what point in the process did this happen? Is your Internet connection reliable and fast enough? Was Basecamp running in the background at this time?

Until this part of the process works, we can't go further.

When it does work, you can then look into your XT and if necessary remove the "bad" copies of the map. Do this only if necessary and use Open MTP with no other program running.

It will if, and this is the important part, Express put them there and they haven't been renamed or moved or altered in any way since Express did so. Otherwise Express won't touch them.

I did that earlier on hoping it would remove the all the previous versions. Instead, it gave me another one giving me a total of three versions of the latest 2026.1

Correct but, it must have at least in part due to having three now.

At what point in the process did this happen?
Upon my first attempt of downloading the new version 2026.1 and upon my second attempt after checking my MacBooks settings. The third attempt downloaded w/o any pop-up

Is your Internet connection reliable and fast enough?
Very good connection.

Was Basecamp running in the background at this time?
No

As I gain understanding of your situation, more questions. Sorry to keep hitting you with them, but such is the nature of diagnosis from way out in the cheap seats.

Why is Express claiming version 6 is up to date? Is your Macbook really old? What model is it and what version of Mac OS are you running? I have a 2017 iMac running OS 13.7.5 (Ventura) and it calls for Express 7.25.0.0.

I'm pretty sure that the map "versions" you are seeing are in fact aborted/corrupted files created during the download attempts. You may need to get rid of them and do a fresh install, but if you can resolve the out of date Express issue I'd still try another re-install first to see if it cleans up the mess automatically.

PS: I just found a list of system requirements for Express. Even older Mac OS versions call for a 7-series version:

Good Question

Is your Macbook really old? What model is it and what version of Mac OS are you running?
My 16" MacBook Pro is a late 2021 M1 Max 64GB memory 4TB Silicon OS Sequoia 15.1.1

I have a 2017 iMac running OS 13.7.5 (Ventura) and it calls for Express 7.25.0.0.
Interesting...

I'm pretty sure that the map "versions" you are seeing are in fact aborted/corrupted files created during the download attempts.
My thoughts exactly.

You may need to get rid of them and do a fresh install
Exactly, but I'm extremely relunctant in doing so due to my past experience tapping into Garmins hidden folders....

but if you can resolve the out of date Express issue I'd still try another re-install first to see if it cleans up the mess automatically.
I dumped the old Garmin Express and did a fresh install...
