Headset pairing order

Post by twowheelstom »

On my Cardo Spirit HD headset, which device should be bluetooth paired 1st then 2nd, my android phone or my Zumo 396?
I am trying to get the FM Radio feature on Cardo Connect App on the phone and my 396 to work nicely to the headset.
I got the FM radio working on the headset via the Connect App but not my 396 won't connect to the headset. I might have messed up the pairing order.

got it fixed, well sort of fixed, though I found the FM Radio feature on the headset nice, I've given up on device pairing order, don't plan to use my phone now with the headset. I re-paired the 396 device again to the Cardo Spirit headset and started up some sd card mp3 music on the Zumo and since that is working ok again I decided to leave things that way and not use the FM Radio feature. I can't figure out headset button presses anyways. At least I can blast my favourite mp3 tune on repeat mode and annoy myself completely until I turn off all the noise and just enjoy my own crappy thoughts lol 8-) Good-bye FM Radio, couldn't find Country music on ya , so I'll just blast away the Zumo music player repeats of Sam Roberts With a Bullet. I'm beginning to like these new half helmet speaker pockets, good purchase, and I removed the headset mount clip from the left side chin strap and found a spot to clip the base mount up higher onto the shell.

Sorry I didn't see this post before.

I think with the 396 it will not matter about the order that you pair your devices - BUT
The Zumo is designed to work with itself as the hub, and it is well capable of attaching to a number of devices.

So - my preferred way of working is to pair the headset first - then at least you can easily tell whether or not you are getting button click, nav instructions or music through the headphones.

Then pair the phone to the Zumo. You have to give various permissions to the phone.

If you have problems then destroy the pairing, unpair / forget the device and then try again.

That gives you phone calls to the phone and text messages - all Via the Zumo - with appropraitae messages and buttons to press - although the ANdroid should allow it to auto-connect after (say) 3-5 seconds, and auto disconnect when the ohe rperson hangs up. Also any other data that you want coming in - is it Smartphone Link thatwas used on the 590 and 595. I think that the 396 came out around that time - but whether it takes on streamed data, I do not know.

I have the Cardo Edge and the FM radio is pretty much useless - although I have just noticed today that it has RDS as an option - which might make it better. It used to be useless because you tune it in at home and when you go anywhere it cannot find the station. RDS may get round that.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
