Today I went past a speed camera but my Zumo XT2 gave no alert for it, so it was not in the camera database. Luckily I noticed the camera and the lines marked on the road and I wasn't speeding, but this got me thinking there should be a simple way to report missing cameras. It would be good if there was a button on screen which I could just touch.
When I got home I looked at the XT2 and found a "Report Safety Camera" item mentioned in a menu but it's greyed out, as are some other items.
How I found it.. From the main map screen, press the 3 bar menu at bottom right of the screen which goes to a screen showing 13 items but many of these are greyed out and cannot be selected.
The greyed out items are:- Report Safety Camera, Towns Ahead, Group Ride, Elevation, Turns, Zumo R1 Radar
The available options which are not greyed out are:- Track Recorder, Traffic, Up Ahead, Trip Data, Music Player, Weather, Phone
Anyone know why some items are greyed out and unavailable and/or how to enable the option I want?
My XT2 is connected to the Tread app on my iPhone and my cardo headset.
BTW, in the "Up Ahead" settings I came across "Garmin Red Light Cameras" but this wouldn't let me put a cross in the box to select it.
So does anyone know if it's even possible to have Report Safety Camera option?

Re: Report Safety Camera button
No, I cannot find it either.
I think it used to be there. It is there on the XT1 but is greyed out. It isn't there at all on my XT2.
Elevation, Turns are all available if there is a route active. (Even under simulation)
Zumo R1 Radar, Group Ride, Towns Ahead are grey. But I don't have a R1 Radar. You can set up a group ride without a Group ride radio. It uses your phone data . Perhaps people need to have joined it to be able to see anything. Towns - maybe it hasn't come across anywhere ahead yet. Im at home at my desk.
Report safety camera is not there now. v5.40 system software on the XT2

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Re: Report Safety Camera button
I forgot all about trying with a route planned, so just tried it. Report Safety Cameras is still greyed out. Group ride and R1 radar also greyed out, neither of which I use anyway.
Strange how Garmin makes features disappear or stop working with newer (improved/updated) devices and/or software.

Re: Report Safety Camera button
The remainder of Group ride works - ie I can set up a Grop Ride and invite people.
I understood (but don't know) that their position just appears on the map.
Maybe the Group ride feature that is greyed out is for the GroupRide Radio facility ?

Re: Report Safety Camera button
It's worse than I initially thought. I've discovered after a ride out today that none of the speed camera alerts are working at all. I usually let it update over wi-fi but I'm going to plug it into the computer and see if anything updates from there.
It would be really good if it also gave warnings of blocked roads/standstill traffic by colouring the road red or something, like google maps and apple maps (plus most others) do. I've lost track of how many roads I've been stuck in today with dozens and dozens of cars bumper to bumper, going nowhere. The roads are too narrow to pass the cars, with parked cars either side and cars/trucks trying to get through in both directions. It seems everyone was out today enjoying the sun.
I'll see what happens when I plug into the computer, but I don't hold too much hope. After various different Garmin devices, I'm losing faith in them. Specially when I meet people using cheap Chinese apple car play style devices which just work, are very easy to use and do everything no problem at all.

Re: Report Safety Camera button
Speed camera alerts have to be turned on and you have to have downloaded the latest cyclopse updates using Garmin Express.
Safety cameras are in Settings ->Driver Assistance->Proximity Alerts->Alerts / Type of Alerts ->Garmin Red Light Cameras
and for Audio -> set the alert near proximity points.
I often see a message to indicate that Speed and Red Light cameras can now be displayed in the list of "up ahead places" which can be shown in the right hand pane. But the cameras just show up as I am riding. I don't take much notice as I'm never over the speed limit anyway.
There used to be a way of getting three small icons on the right of the screen if no other window was displayed - I used to have Skip showing . I can't remember how to get those there now. ... Found it. Show the map. 3 bar menu bottom right. Spanner, top left. Nothing there to helpt though now. Lots of other stuff though.

The XT2 looks ahead for traffic information - but it seems to be only as far as the next Via Point.
So if you have routes with lots of Via Points rather than shaping points - it isn't going to spot many roadworks up ahead.
You have to have the traffic turned on - in a few places.
i)Settings->Driver Assistance and then - Speeding Alert / Reduced Speed Tone / Proximity Alerts
ii)Settings->Map Display->Map Layers->Traffic also Up Ahead Places is an option for red light cameras.
But you can use the Zumo map to browse for traffic and road closures, and you can get a display on the right hand side of the screen showing traffic issues ahead on your route.
The roads are colour coded to show where there are delays - but only at certain zoom levels.
Take a look here. These were obtained on the Zumo XT, but I have just checked and managed to get very similar displays, using very similar option on the XT2.
You have to wait quite a while for it to collect this amount of data, so give it a few minutes. On the road, I find that if you have displayed the traffic info at the right hand side and it says no-delays, then that isn't updated as quickly. If you close the view down and then open it up again, it seems to force a refresh. That's not an issue - becasue it might take you 20 minutes to reach particular traffic problems, and it will have updated easily in that amount of time.
I've attached a couple of screen shots, but the link has explanations and many more screen shots.
