@haug37, one of my riding buddies has a Nav 6 while I have an XT. We experience what you describe regarding difference in routes between the two devices. We both create routes, and we both include and excessive number of route points in an attempt to get the devices to follow the same route. The keyword here is "attempt". Both devices will follow the same route unless one of them calculates it on import, or recalculates it during the ride, then all bets are off.

In spite of what Garmin says, Basecamp is still the best tool for the job (in my opinion). Garmin have stopped allowing their maps to be installed on the computer if you are using an XT2 - but I have older Zumos and can install it on the computer using those.

I'm not interested in the Michelin roads or different routing options for each segement. I want my satnav to take me on the roads that I have spent time planning to ride.

So I plan using BAsecamp.
I create a gpx file
I send it to the Zumo using TripManager
I do not allow the Zumo to synch to the Explore database either in Drive (for the XT1) or Tread (for the XT2).
And my routes behave perfectly. They take me exactly where I want to go.

I just have to get myself used to the fact that if the Zumo recalculates (XT1 or XT2) it is going to want to use main roads. Intelligent use of a few shapingpoints deals with that.

TripManager keeps the names that you have given to your route points.
It prevents the 'RUT issue' and the 'disappearing route point issue' from happening
The route or route points are never moved
It will create a track from your original route (from Basceamp routes) MRA1.1 doesn't create an original route, but it does export a track.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
