logouts happening shortly after logging in

Post by Peobody »

Is anyone else experiencing logouts shortly after logging in? I am not talking about the ones that happen after a significant period of inactivity. Mine are occurring randomly within a few minutes of logging in. It manifests itself like this:
- I login
- I access Quick links > Unread posts
- I visit a post and create a response
- On clicking Submit I am prompted to login.

This happens just frequently enough to be annoying. It started happening about a week ago. I have not been able to identify anything unique about when it happens.

This is a tough one for me. Typing the password the hitting enter is automatic, even when I'm thinking not to, my fingers do it anyways. I'm working on it though, as I type this without "Remember me" enabled. "Remember me" IS the option you are referring to, right?

Yes tick the box before you login and it will keep you logged in

Just don't forget your password for future use if you ever have to login again

This implies that future logins are not required but that is not the case for me, which I'm OK with if it prevents auto-logoff.
I wonder if my browser's tracker blocking or my script blocking extension are the cause of it not sticking. That's not important. I avoid auto-logins so am only hoping to stay logged in until I choose to log out.

It will be anything that blocks cookies that will stop the auto login from working

Once you tick the box then enter your details then click login then it should automatically log you in when you next visit

Ya it must be a cookies problem. Because to test my login, I exited, then changed my IP address to Perth Australia, and then tried to connect to Zumo forums, I got connected immediately as usual, I got signed in automatically, which proves that the signin is not an IP adddress issue. must be a cookies issue on the computer.

To be clear, my problem did not appear associated with auto-login or the automatic timeout of a login when the 'keep me logged in' box is not ticked. My logouts were happening within just a few of minutes of logging in. Clearing the cookies fixed the issue.

I learned early on that I will be automatically logged out after a period of inactivity. That is common on sites where security is of concern but I was surprised by it here. I'm fine with it after learning of the behavior. I don't do auto-login.
