Duplicate multiple waypoints to a different list?
I am working on a new route for a group ride. Half of it will follow much of the return leg of one of my personal day-long loop rides. I would like to duplicate the applicable waypoints from my ride to the list where I am creating the group ride. The "Duplicate" function only duplicates in place. Does anyone know of a trick to duplicate to a different list?

Re: Duplicate multiple waypoints to a different list?
I don't think you can Duplicate to another list, but I would think Send To (or drag-n-drop) to the new list would work as well to make the points available in the new route. Changes to the point in either list would apply in both lists.
Duplicate creates a separate entry in the database and appends a number to the point names. Then the points have to be sent to the new list, and presumably removed from the original list.

Re: Duplicate multiple waypoints to a different list?
Thanks for the response @lkraus but I need to give them different names in the new list so they must be duplicates. As you said, Send To and drag-n-drop only create a shared copy to which edits to one affects them all. I guess I'll have to duplicate them and then move the dups to the my new list. I did discover that I can duplicate multiple waypoints at one time by Ctrl+Click selection > Duplicate but then I can't figure out how to move the dups to a different list. All attempts so far have resulted in a copy, including Send To. Argh!

Re: Duplicate multiple waypoints to a different list?
Try duplicating the entire original route list, agreeing to duplicate all points, routes and tracks. That leaves your original list and points intact and separate from the new list.
Open the duplicated route, select (shift-click) only the portion you want to re-use, copy, and paste to your new list (or an empty list)(or route). This will include only the duplicated waypoints, via points, and shaping points used in that part of the route. You can rename anything you like - changes will affect only the new list and the (temporary) duplicate, and you will not need to re-shape the route.
You can then get rid of the duplicated list with right-click → Remove and Delete Unique Content. Extra duplicates not used in the new list will disappear, used points will be retained.

I would copy the old route to the new list, duplicate it there, then remove the old route and waypoints.

Bingo! Winner winner chicken dinner! I didn't know that was possible. I think that will be the best option for what I am trying to accomplish. It gives me the existing route as a base from which I can delete what I don't need, rename remaining points as needed, and add the new portion.

Yes, I was thinking about and editing my answer, but meanwhile I think you found the advantage of working from a duplicate list.

Re: Duplicate multiple waypoints to a different list?
I do that all the time. Duplicate a waypoint and it is placed in the same list. I then rename the duplicated waypoint, cut, and then paste in the new list. Or sometimes leave there with the new name and add to the route. Of course, this is one at a time.
