If you just stop the route and start it again whilst being *on* the route it would take up from that point.
skipping waypoints is a pain, even so. I Use only shaping points if I can.

I had problems going up the Col de la Bonnette this year, which drove the 595 berserk.

this was fixed by a firmware update I believe.

I used ONLY shaping points and no, stopping the route and starting it again totally changed the route made in and transferred from BaseCamp.

I realize it was probably a left over road closure when routing in BaseCamp. The problems I had was that the 595 A) would not let me delete a shaping point and 2) would not continue with the route.

They did that once. It was called the Zumo550. It's a pity they felt the need to produce an overcomplicated one to replace it. All they needed to do was increase the memory and screen size of the 550.

A StreetPilot 2730 with 4 GB memory, faster processor better screen brightness and better GPS receiver. Able to hold full NorthAmerica maps and some audio. I could do without the WIFI and Bluetooth if the unit would just use the routes I gave it without playing with them. That would be so nice!

The North America maps are tiny compared to the full European maps. The 2012 version I have was 1.6GB. We ran out of space in the 550's 2GB way back somewhere around 2010. Since then I've been using a 4GB card to put the maps on. Even that's too small now.pidjones wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 5:31 pm A StreetPilot 2730 with 4 GB memory, faster processor better screen brightness and better GPS receiver. I do agree with the other stuff though. The Garmin designers really don't "get" us Bikers both in the design of the unit (touch screen with cold, wet gloves?) and the features we need.
Re: Zumo 595 thoughts after 1500km (1000 mile tour)
Recently completed a weeks riding with a new 595lm. I used to a 590lm in the past. The screen on the 595 is basically unreadable in sunlight. I tried multiple themes which helped om my 590 but nothing I did made the contrast any better in the sun. In the shade it was alright. Has any else had this experience with the 595 screen. Also the skip function in the tools on the 595 is not available although this seemed to let me rejoin a route I had deviated from and had passed a waypoint.
Re: Zumo 595 thoughts after 1500km (1000 mile tour)
I finished 13 days and 4200 miles on the 20th. Used a 396. Day after we returned, I removed the 396 and reinstalled my old, faint-screen 2730. 396 not only fought me about the route, it rebooted twice (once in heavy, high-speed navigation) and forgot half of the trip's track log. It will either go on ebay or more likely set around as I learn to use it and make it work better (and hope for software updates to correct it).
