Stop Zumo XT synching favourites?
Is there a way to stop Zumo XT synching favourites and ending up with multiple identical entries on the XT?

Re: Stop Zumo XT synching favourites?
I don't know what your process is so let me explain what I have figured out.
Via points contained in routes transferred to internal storage get automatically added to Favourites. How absurd, and absolutely frustrating. To prevent it, transfer routes to the SD card and then import them using Trip Manager on the XT. For some reason, the process of importing from the card does not also import in Favourites.
What if you want one of those Via points as a Favourite? I actually don't know if there is a way to add one if you didn't intentionally export it individually, but I don't care. If I need to ride directly to one of the Via points in a route I will start the route and select that Via as the entry point. On one occasion I selected the end point as an entry point to get there the fastest way.

I hesitate to disagree with @Peobody , but I have not found that to be the case.Peobody wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 8:00 pm

Via Points transferred to the route do not automatically get stored in Favourites. Only route points that have been created as Waypoints will end up in Favourites. In Basecamp you have to explicitly create a waypoint, or use a saved waypoint from Basecamp’s database for that to happen. If you build a route without using any waypoints, nothing is imported into favourites.
If you are using MRA, and you have selected points from the POI database, then those are sent to the Zumo as genuine saved waypoints, and those will appear in the list of favourites. If you create ad-hoc route points, whether they are set as via (hands) or shaping (teardrops), they will not appear on the XT as favourites.
Regarding automatic import - the XT does not import anything from the sd card automatically. The XT2 will import waypoints and tracks automatically from a GPX file in internal storage AND it removes the track data from the gpx file - so that it is impossible to import it a second time. I don’t know whether or not a later software upgrade caused the same thing to happen in The XT1. Gpx files placed on the sd card are not affected - but waypoints, tracks and routes have to be imported manually.
Nb on the XT1 if you have not got at least one favourite saved in the Zumo from internal storage it will report that there are no favourites to be imported on the sd card. The fix, if this happens to you is to tap on the map to plant a flag and save it. Then try to import again. Magic.
Schoolboy programming error. Reported years ago, never fixed.
Waypoints can be set as either via points or shaping points. I’ve not checked whether MRA’s POIs can be set as hands or tear drops, but I’d expect the same applies - they will appear in the XT list of favourites. But only if the point has been created from the POI database.
Nb Favourites on USA Zumos are called ‘Saved’.
Whatever - if the gpx file contains waypoint data, if you import the route twice, the waypoints are stored in the Favourites app twice on the XT - the second one usually with a digit added. But it has nothing to do with the route point being set as a via points.
The XT2 doesn’t do this. It will create a Waypoint entry only once no matter how many times you import the same data. (The XT2 has abandoned the word ‘Favourite’ and ‘Saved’ and decided at long last to call them what they are - ‘Waypoints’.
