Refurbished 395

Post by CRracer »

Got a friend that's looking for a GPS for his bike, doesn't want to spend 400 hundred or more on one and was looking at the refurbished units on Amazon. Are these gtg? Hit or miss? I thought he mentioned the number 395.

Anyone got any experience with the refurbished units?

Yes. I bought a refurbished nuvi and used it 10+ yrs on the bike. Still going strong in the truck tho I did replace the screen and digitizer. That was $16 and 20 minutes.

I'm now using a refurbished 595LM. Been about a yr. No problems yet.

That's good to here.

He did buy a refurb 395. Got it in, looks like new and all hardware present, even car mounting and charging.

I updated it for him.

It came with 2017 maps. It's now got 2021 maps.

One oddity. When it initially wanted to update, I looked at all it wanted to update. There were 8 total updates. One of the updates was the 2021 north America maps.

The 2nd was 2018 complete Europe map?!?

The rest were the various small updates.

Why would it have the European maps? And why are European maps only 2018?

One the GPS, all it showed was 2017 north America, as it was received, nothing about Europe.

Made me wonder if it originally sold in Europe.
