Did that install tonight, and I'm still getting the Google Earth is not installed warning, any ideas on what to try?Oop North John wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 12:24 pmSomething for me to do tonight I thinksussamb wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 7:07 am From here https://support.google.com/earth/answer/168344?hl=en
Select the Direct Installer, as I just use it for viewing BaseCamp data I chose 7.1.8.3036 (32-bit), as I was pretty sure that didn't have an auto update

You will still need to use one of the command lines I posted above. If you have and it's still not working check where googleearth.exe is installed. It may not have installed as expected so you may have to modify it.

Some computer things I'm good with, programming is not one of the so use the technique here
https://www.howtogeek.com/235101/10-way ... indows-10/
And used the "Open Command Prompt from the Run Box" option as the administrator, pasted in the command in Sussamb's post for the OS I have and it seems to be working again

Re: Base Camp and Google Earth - again
I followed your instructions and tried to install the version 7.1.8.3036 but all I get from Google Earth is "Installation Error 1603" Should I uninstall my present version of GE first?sussamb wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 7:07 am From here https://support.google.com/earth/answer/168344?hl=en

Re: Base Camp and Google Earth - again
Thanks to sussamb, BaseCamp and Google Earth are still talking.
However, although I can go to GE, the ground-level view is not working properly. When you drag the 'man' to the road it stops zooming in and looks 'flat'. I've checked both computers and it is the same on both.
Anyone else have this issue?
Keep Safe
Thanks
Steve P

Re: Base Camp and Google Earth - again
In answer to my previous post, I've done some more digging and found this on a Google support forum:
Hi everyone, just to confirm what Nick says, street view is being turned off in versions prior to 7.3.3. There's an announcement about this here:
https://support.google.com/earth/thread/43329999.
Starting in August 2020, version 7.3.3 (or later) will be required to access Google Street View within Google Earth Pro.
In October 2020, Google Earth Pro version 7.1.8 or later will be required. Earlier versions of Google Earth on desktop will no longer work as they will not connect to Google’s servers. These versions are between four and eight years old and have long been superseded by modern versions.
As we all know, newer versions of GE have issues with BCamp. Like sussamb I use BCamp/GE to closely look at parts of routes. In GE you can look closely at a point by selecting File/view in Google Maps. Bit long winded but it works.

Re: Base Camp and Google Earth - again
Indeed I wondered why my version of Google Earth 7.1.7.2606 was still working with Basecamp 4.6.2 - view - Google Earth but would not give a street view which is all important.
So in summary:
1. Is there a version of GE (not pro) that shows street view and works with BC?
2. If so, where to get it?
3. If I am forced in to GE Pro, does it still talk to BC 4.6.2? Are there any special loading option to make it work? Or does one have to use the GE method mentioned above?
Thanks
Paul
